Spoiled entitled daughters

The cast of the show differs a little to the real Debra's family - seemingly merging her two older daughters together and only keeping the name of the youngest daughter the same. But the daughters in the show have been written to be pretty awful characters - especially Veronica. Sure she seems to want the best for her Mother and is a hard worker but her attitude is extremely spoiled and entitled. Even the supposedly nice and meek daughter told her Mum to shut up when all Debra was doing was consoling her over her break up from her boyfriend.

I felt that way too, but I felt that it seemed very realistic. There are no perfect people and it made them seem unsympathetic. But you realize that the kids had developed a selfishness as a form of self preservation. The mom had been married 4 times and didn’t seem to learn anything from those relationships.

In addition to the points I previously made on this subject, did it somehow escape your notice that Debra actually betrayed her children and her family at large for the sake of that assh*le?

I agree. Her daughters annoy me more than John himself. They are spoiled, snobby children. The way they act, talk and walk irritates me. Even their voice is annoying. I think I hate these characters more than main villain.

I must agree. I can’t believe how awful the daughters speak to her from the beginning even before they met John. I haven’t heard the podcast but did watch Evil Lives Here. It only showed one daughter in the episode and it was the one who was a dog groomer. I got the impression there was tension and pain between the mother and daughter before she met him. Something in the past they had to work through. This show has them in family therapy which also confirms this idea. The mother said she was married four other times which must have been hard on the girls. I have an aunt who married 8 times before my cousin was even 16. This caused a lot of trust issues with her mom and also any future men. So I think that’s where the girls are getting all their anger from but still it’s no excuse to be so rude and hateful. I’m only on the second episode and would never put up with such disrespect. But part of me wonders if Debra had a history of letting herself be controlled by others even if it’s her own kids

Their communication and trust issues made it way too easy for the mom to take John’s side over her daughters. The daughters never made it easy for her to see how she was being manipulated by John. Their behavior and strained relationship with their mom actually exacerbated her vulnerability with John and made it a lot easier for him to manipulate her.
