Entirely derivative of Edge of Tomorrow but still above the average of streaming crap

This didn't just borrow from Edge of Tomorrow, but it also didn't take itself too seriously which was enjoyable. Frank Grillo is also the ideal guy for a movie like this.

Overall it was an above average action film. I was kind of surprised though to see Naomi Watts and Mel Gibson in this, though, it felt like they were slumming a bit.

Ripping off other movies is not a problem as long as you make it fun. Boss Level fails. It is a seldomly fun gimmicky movie without qualities, like if written by 15 years old kids who tried to pose as cool kids, but their writing abilities failed them. The dialogue... The pain...

I mean its in no way, shape or form a "good" movie, but as 90 minutes of filmed entertainment is rises above the pathetic average for its type.

reply

err... no. Edge of tomorrow had no sense of humor at all, while this film felt like an action/comedy through and through.
Best thing is, the humor bits are really well done. I've enjoyed this film way more than edge of tomorrow.

Nah there was that one scene where Tom mistimed the roll under the truck and got run over

reply

lol edge of tomorrow totally had a sense of humor. It just might not have been your cup of tea.

I agree about Mel Gibson especially, he seemed out of place in this film.

Very enjoyable film, it kept me entertained till the end and Frank Grillo is a very likeable guy.

It seems part of the usual streaming gimmick. Get $high_profile_actor to appear for 5 minutes and use unknowns for the rest of the cast; push film as "STARRING $HIGH_PROFILE_ACTOR!"

Although Grillo has kind of reached Van Damme or pre-Terminator Arnold levels of action movie status on his own.
