Without a doubt the most average movie on top 250

I was actually stunned how much this Movie just averaged. It was not a bad Movie but it was NOT top 250 material. I know that it can be different taste and such. But this Movie was like a cliche all the way. I dont understand why it is so highly rated!

fuck this Movie.

I made an account just to say it. AH HOW I MISSED IMDB BOARD MESSAGE THO

Hmmm, I don't know... average is hard to define. I gave it 5/10 so yes, average. There are certainly films on the list which I thought were worse than this.

reply

Honestly? Maybe I have bad memory about them but would you mind?

Yeah I’m saying it’s not a movie that’s like, yeah average is still okay but it’s just that it’s top 250 that makes it mean something I guess :/

reply

Really? You've got trash like The Dark Knight Rises in there for starters.

reply

AGREE

reply

You've gotta have some big dice to rate it. I gave it a overall positive review, with some objections and got thumbs downed so far.

reply

Also in the top250 and shouldnt be imho

The Dark Knight (2008)
Inception (2010)
American History X (1998)
Logan (2017)
The Deer Hunter (1978)
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Batman Begins (2005)
Inglourious Basterds (2009)

Really?

How to Train Your Dragon? Harry Potter? Infinity War?

I really liked this movie a lot, and I'm not saying it reinvented the wheel, but it's not hands-down the most average film on the top 250 list.

reply

How To Train Your Dragon average? Which Harry Potter film was average?

reply

Deathly Hallows Part II, I think, is the only one (still) on the IMDb Top 250.

I don't want to malign anybody's taste, but I sorta cock an eyebrow at phrases like, "without a doubt" regarding film. There are usually exceptions, often several. Depending on taste, I'd throw a bunch more into play for "average" films that made it to the top 250.

This was also a bit in response to OP's specific complaints. He says it's "cliche", but he's ignoring stuff like Avengers? If you dig it, great, but these guys aren't re-inventing the wheel.

reply

I see. Well personally I do not consider How To Train Your Dragon or Harry Potter to be average. In fact I consider Prisoner of Azkaban to be quite exceptional.

To me cliché can be overcome quite easily. Joker is cliché but the question is is it good? Cliché and bad is an issue for sure but even great films can be cliché. I agree about Avengers being cliché'. To me what I look at is does the film push boundaries technically? Does it have it have memorable compelling characters? Is the screenplay, and story written exceptionally? If a film is paint by numbers and only does things moderately okay then I do not consider it to be great.

reply

Aside from a slight difference of specific film preferences, I agree with you. Your thesis is a solid one. Cliche is not the opposite of good.

reply

All you comment really says is: “I don’t understand.” Sorry it didn’t move you. I thought it was outstanding.

reply

Pretty weak reply. This movies message wasn't deep, it wore it right on it's sleeve. The OP is spot on. It's a good movie, it just isn't one of the greatest.

reply

LOL! You criticize a masterpiece with vapid non-starters then feel you have the ability to criticize the strength of my "reply?"

reply

"vapid non-starters"?.... You sound like a child trying to use words he doesn't understand to attempt at being smart. That phrase holds no meaning in response to my comment, son.

reply

LOL! You mistake me for someone that thinks there is any point in arguing with an asshole on the internet.

reply

yet you still are dipshit.🤣

reply

Why dont you all faggots and sinners that lived the days here just go and paint your fkng godgiven nails with something disgusting that only an all-knowing hellworth would care about because the essential work is just too god damn hard tho?

reply

Go and down or up the movies on imdb without a brain. This fkng circle -.-
