Why Can't DC Figure It Out?
The blueprint is right there in the MCU. Why do they make one terrible movie after another?
shareI was thinking the same. I feel like they try so hard NOT to have their movies be so similar to the point it hurts. Subtract the cheesiness, leave the rest in, add a bit more grit, and you're golden. All in all though it's the writing that suffers. These movies draaaaag.
shareAdmittedly, I've stopped watching them, but from the ones I did watch, and the reviews/reactions to subsequent films, it seems their entire franchise is in a tailspin. The only exception has been the new Batman film, which is about as good a superhero film as I've ever seen. In large part I attribute that to it existing in its own realm, like the Joker film, rather than being part of their "extended universe," I believe they are calling it. It's also Batman himself. I think the Batman character lends itself to cinema in a way no other superhero does. But then, it's also casting great actors-- Pattinson, Dano, Farrell, Turturro, Wright, etc.-- instead of The Rock, Zachary Levi, or Jon Cena.
