Into the Fold (spoiler if you haven't seen it)

Good episode, great effects.
Was anyone else surprised by Claire's fatal attack of the alien? I thought he was going to be helpful and was keeping her locked up for her protection.
That caught me off guard.

reply

I agree about Claire's attack, he was only trying to help her, also I loved Isaac's interaction with the kids, it had a T2 vibe. Good episode, that could of been a two parter.

reply

No. He was a super freak on crack. He wanted to keep her captive and didn't want the kids to get in the way of him raping her. Anyone can see he was a copy of a paranoid red neck and those end of the world nut jobs.

reply

....and those end of the world nut jobs.

Well, since their world did literally come to an end, I guess he wasn't that nuts. He managed to secure a sturdy building and provide himself with safe food and water.

reply

It had a 10 Cloverfield Lane vibe.

reply

Yes, exactly!!!

What caught me off guard, was that speech to her kid near the end, when she handed him gun and said she set it on stun, because they're not like the people on the planet and don't go around killing people.
the guy went off to get medicine for her. If he was a rapist, could've done her while she was unconcious.
Just another episode which I found uneven.

>>True, but she was indeed his prisoner, she was scared, and she didn't know if her kids were OK. What I should have said is that I was surprised more by the fact that he didn't turn out to be the savior but was killed instead. From where I sat in front of my TV, I thought he'd end up being a good guy. If I was *really* in that situation there's nothing that would have stopped me from trying anything to get away from him and getting to my kids. The only way she was going to escape was to kill him given the fact that she didn't have a weapon that could stun.

"the guy went off to get medicine for her. If he was a rapist, could've done her while she was unconcious."

>>I agree. Still, he could have been fattening her up like a Christmas goose... :)

She wasnt imprisoned at all. At that moment she already escaped and just waited for him returinign with the medicine .... to murder him. This was really stupid script writing.

Three thoughts came to my mind about it:
1. Do as I say, not as I do: typical of many parents.
2. Also no one was looking. How we behave alone vs how we behave in front of others defines our character.
3. She feels shame as evidenced by delaying her report.

The episode was interesting because there was a lot of legitimate criticism of her parenting and support for two parent families, especially father figures. I've never liked the doctor and the writers really dragged her through the mud as a bigot and bad parent.
