To Me, That Didn't Count... (minor spoilers)

To me, that didn't count as them going to space. Ooh wow. They modified a car and two of them went to space in the modified car to destroy a satellite. So what?

The definition of Fast & Furious going to space (in MY opinion) is spending majority of the movie in space (or at least the last 45-60 minutes of the runtime, especially the big final fight/battle towards the end of the movie). They need to actually have the good guys and bad guys fight each other and stuff in space. Plus ALL of them have to be in space. Not just two of them. Dom, Letty, Han, Mia, Ramsey, Sean, Cena, Hobbs, Shaw brothers, Cipher, Cipher's henchmen, Mr. Nobody, and whoever else need to be up there with Roman and Tej. And they need to do stuff like modify their cars and drive them around on the moon or get to a space station. Heck, throw in Star Wars/Star Trek like space battles in there.

But going up there to do a small task like destroy a satellite and only sending two members of the team DOES NOT count (in MY opinion) of these movie finally going to space. Plus they didn't get too far away from Earth.

That's just my thoughts on the whole outer space stuff in 9. To me, it doesn't count and they haven't fully gone to space yet. What they did in 9 was more of a tease.

LOL. Fair enough. I appreciate your thoughts on this important subject.

I agree actually. If they really want to do the "Fast & Furious goes to space" thing then they need to actually put them on a space ship.

They can look to Jason X for guidance.

Fast in space conjures up images of the Ad Astra moon buggy chase, Dom & Co in moon cars vs a rogue faction (aliens?), protecting earth from an invasion, moonraker lasers, Dom entering the earth atmosphere without any protection apart from jeans stacked boots and size too small white t shirt.

My guess is the scene here was them testing the waters to see if people were *really* serious about the "send them into space!" memes, and if it were well received they would go full-bore in Fast 10. I suspect the reaction now makes that unlikely.

Cipher's gonna hack the moon next movie to bring it crashing into earth to create her new world order. The ghost of Mr. Nobody is gonna recruit the fast gang for one last job, train them into astronauts, and they'll be on a breakneck chase scene on the surface of the moon to infiltrate Cipher's moonbase (that can only be accessed by the ground, and only cars of their speed can bypass the radars). This will lead to a massive climax where the moon splits in two, revealing Sentinel Prime, which sets the stage for Tyrese's crossover idea. This confirms of the Fast/Formers multiverse, and we'll see two Tyreses in the next spin off film: Tyrese of Two Earths.

Technically, this was more "in space" than those ballons they use to "send things to space" or the zero G flights Virgin gallactic is offering. When Jeff Bezos went "to space" last week he was actually bellow the line that is considered technically space, whereas these people were above it.
