The first 2 episodes it’s clear that Barry is a psychopath, if he wasn’t one already. Yes his girlfriend is also a psychopath, and that has probably unleashed his inner psycho.
The audience will struggle to find any redeeming qualities. The only possible way there’s a S4 is if Barry repents and confesses to the police and S4 is set in jail. Maybe Hank is there too, because I can’t also see this guy keep running from various mobs for much longer.
I agree. The dynamic with Gene is gone and literally cannot be put back in a bottle.
But then, maybe it doesn't need to. The episodes have still been super nice so far, so perhaps it just finishes, going out with all guns blazing at the end of season 3.
It was always a delicate balance to maintain, but the biggest problem with the shift is that it doesn't fit with the character we saw in prior seasons. But the concept itself is so limited that you need to turn things over. Maybe his teacher or his girlfriend has to go, maybe by Fuches or someone other than Barry. Then introduce a new main character in a 4th season.
But none of this will decide the show's fate. It's ratings, and they've been way down so far. The long break from Covid did some damage, so maybe people don't know that it's finally back.
I'm finding the season to be pretty weak so far. You might be right.
shareI'm glad I'm not the only one finding S3 a bit lacking. The massive break really hasn't helped but perhaps it's just the direction they've decided to take it in.
I was trying to think back and see if I was misremembering just how good the earlier seasons were and the hype they got but there were in fact decent.
I thought perhaps they'd go out with a bang at the end of S3 but it seems S4 is confirmed. I'll stick with it but hoping things improve.
Well it’s been renewed so Hader and Berg have something in mind. Hopefully they dont run it into the ground.
