A better way for Diversity

They should've made each race a different ethnicity. The humans white, the elves asian, the dwarves black, etc. It would've made more sense.

reply

That would actually work well. However the tenderhearted casting departments could not handle the cries of racism for casting all minorities as non-human

reply

True, but it's very silly casting random ethnicities for all the races.

reply

It's something that annoys me. If these groups of tribes are different races or species than shouldn't they share similarities?

reply

Why should the humans be white?

reply

I'm not white, but why not ?

reply

I was just curious if you chose that because Henry Cavil and Liam Hemsworth are white so you went with that.

reply

Yes pretty much.

reply

Why do the blacks get the short end of the stick, literally and figuratively?

That would be getting into Ring of Power territory where all the Dwarfs are Scottish, and the Hobbits are all Irish leprechauns. It's kinda insulting.

The best way to do diversity, is good writing, and a good story.

Neither Rings of Power nor Witcher had it. They focused more on the politics of the casting choices rather than the writing.

reply

Dwarves are badass, who wouldn't want to be a dwarf ? Dwarves are strong AF, didn't you notice that dwarves kick ass ?

reply

You seen The Hobbit movies? Which of the dwarves do you dream of being?

reply

The solution would be to not cast non-whites in white-based fantasy stories, and to instead cast them in stories based on their respective cultures and mythologies, but Hollywood refuses to do that for some reason. They’re all about diversity, yet they seem terrified to touch anything that wasn’t made by white people.
