My God the music was irritating....

.....it barely stopped and most of the dialogue was drowned out.

I thought the music was one of the few decent aspects about this film.

You know why the dialogue was “hurt” by the music? Because that’s what Nolan intended. He didn’t want the dialogue to be as important as the music and the tension it builds.

If that’s problematic for some people, then tough. A lot of Zimmer scores can be dominating (especially in Nolan’s films), and while it can be hit and miss, in Dunkirk it felt and sounded perfect. His score was fantastically effective and it is vital to Dunkirk. So if you ask me, it was one of the best uses of music in a film.

I found the music a bit too Interstellar and not enough Dark Knight. Because of the music I literally had the urge to watch Interstellar after seeing this film, despite it having absolutely nothing to do with what happened at Dunkirk.

Hans Zimmer is great, but yeah the music could have been a little more suitable for World War II and not the sci-fi epic.
