Brad Pitt is horrible in this...

His over the top acting looked and sounded like it was from an SNL sketch. Worse than his character in Inglorious Basterds.

Also, nobody runs like this. Nobody.

I came here to exactly say that. He wasn't the character, he was a caricature.

reply

Really? It's not like he has ever been shit in other roles too (Se7en, World War Z).....

reply

He was freaking amazing in Kalifornia, though.

reply

Sounds like you didn't get this movie. Check out Inglourious Basterds for some context.

What is there to "get"? Yes, Americans can't win wars in third world countries. We all know that.

Please go ahead and explain why Brad Pitt is hamming it up to 11.

The trailer told you he was going to be making fun of one of the pivotal generals in modern America's war on terrorism. We are supposed to find this funny. This film was made for fart sniffers and I'm surprised Clooney wasn't the lead. I made a post two months ago on this site about how lampooning a general who has lost men to terrorists is a bad idea. Offensive and unfunny. It was deleted because well, I can only assume the moderators here agree with the radical left that love is the answer to this jihadist war

Brainwashed idiot!

Yeah... i was expecting more... even from a satire, it seemed like they had expected that the viewers would just fall in line and go along with the movie uncritically...

I'm not sure a comedy is the right format for the movie, even one based soley on the Hastings article in Rolling Stone

The actual topic is too serious... too complex and nuanced for this treatment...

You even see them struggle with it in the movie... the tone is all wrong... the dramatic scenes overshadow any satire... it gets real, but there is not enough meat there... just a broad criticism of the US occupation and continued presence which is an easy position to take, but doesnt address the reality of the way these fundementalist regimes relate to the west and the ideology that they spread.

They were preaching to the choir

I kept seeing Jeffrey from 12 Monkeys heh.

Brad Pitt's acting has always been like this.

I'm not sure what people expected.
