Does having the 5 infinity stones allow you to almost grant wishes and whatever you wish for in your head will come true once you click your fingers? Was Thanos being the last one to disappear part of Tony's wish? Like he said in his head "I want all the bad guys to disappear but keep Thanos around for a minute longer so he can witness his failure in front of him" CLICK.

5 made him very powerful, as we saw, but he could not do what he wanted without all 6 stones.
The snap in the comics was something Thanos did as a flex, while displaying the power of the stones. It’s an iconic moment, but Thanos did it like that just to show off.
The movies hyped it up so that it made more sense for normies, while comic fans knew what was coming. But then the movies kept doing it for some reason. Hulk and Tony did it too and it made no sense.
The wielder of the gauntlet doesn’t need to snap their fingers. Just think what you want and it’ll happen.
In the comics that is how it worked. The glove was just a receptacle to hold the gems while Thanos gathered them. In the movies they decided to make it some kind of machine designed to activate the gems. Unnecessary in my opinion.
shareIt's necessary from a story-telling standpoint. If Thanos can do anything simply by thinking it, he's unstoppable. If the heroes can prevent him from using the gauntlet, then we have a better story, as they can act to stop him. It adds dynamic tension and suspense to what would otherwise be an anticlimactic tale.
