Agreed. Infinity War delivered on every level in my eyes, and it is THE ultimate great comic book film (the revered TDK, which naturally always finds itself into these sort of discussions, feels much more like a crime thriller featuring comic characters; I find the stakes in IW and the way it was all put together basically more awe-inspiring). This third Avengers is an intense, momentous, ridiculously fun, visually captivating spectacle! If Avengers 4 manages to top it, then wow.

Also in terms of emotional weight and overall impact, Infinity War left me feeling like no comic book film -or any genre film - has made me feel since perhaps The Crow or Logan. As funny as it gets, it is downright heart-wrenching and filled with surprises. The unforgettable ending? The most shocking I’ve seen in a cbm, if I do say so myself. Plus add the sheer size of the whole film, and it’s really unlike anything that’s been made before.

Lastly, huge thumbs up to the Russo brothers! Taking on a film of this magnitude was no easy task, yet these directors successfully pulled it off. Speaking of, the extraordinary 2nd and 3rd Captain America films are the cream of the crop of superhero/action movies imo! And along with Infinity War & Thor: Ragnarok (another movie that looks like it was ripped right out of the pages), the Russos’ CA sequels are my absolute favorites.

Couldn't agree more. I went twice to see this movie and the second time reconfirmed my initial surge of joy. It's everything advertised and I can't imagine how they will "up the ante" in Avengers 4 but I have faith in the M.C.U. and the creative minds behind it.

What an amazing feat. 18 movies and then capping it with a crown jewel at 19. Keep it going MARVEL, Kevin Feige and Russo brothers. KEEP IT GOING!!!

I've seen it twice...

came away with the conclusion that I have no problem with anyone who thinks its the best CBM ever

For me its #4 behind THe Avengers, The Dark Knight and Logan...

I do not feel AIW is a better overall movie than any of those 3 films, but the reason I wont argue with anyone who does is....there are parts and things about AIW that are THE BEST, the movies goes place no other CBM has, or may never go again, The Scale, Villain and Ambitions are unlike anything weve ever seen in a CBM...

It is among the best CBM's ever, for Me its #4, can completely understand why anyone would have it higher or even number 1

Thanos is the Stunner here....Hes the greatest threat ever put on screen in a CBM or maybe movie ever, IMO right now hes the 2nd greatest CBM villain(behinds ledgers Jokers), If Avengers 4 is great, I could easily see Thanos being recognized as The Greatest villain in CBM history

Also while I do not feel Avengers IW is the funnest CBM or MCU film, I feel The Humor in this film is absolutely perfect, extremely funny, Lands at all the right times and most importantly is desperately needed due to the stakes and emotions of the film...The interactions between Thor and The GOTG and then Thor and Rocket and Groot are among the best Comedy put in a CBM IMO

again there are just so many things that AIW does each The BEST or near the best

The Beginning and introduction of Thanos and The Black Order is just a Master class in introducing a villain and Instantly making the Audience understand The Threat and Power level...to Have Thanos kill 100+ asgardians, Kill Heimdall, Kill Loki and Then Fight Hulk One of One in Hand to hand combat and beat him into a Coma in less than a Minute and Also Beat Thor...they literally could not have introduced Thanos any better.

and The ending..Jesus

So for me, The Beginning, The Villain, The Comedy(its timing and The jokes itself), The ending and The fight between Thanos and IM, SM, DS, Drax, Nebula, Mantis,Star Lord are either the best there is in a CBM....or among the very best there is in a CBM...

Can't say if I definitively think it's the best CBM movie to date (such a geek for Nolan's Batman) but it is definitely up there and probably the ballsiest considering the way it ended. This reminded me of The Empire Strikes Back and had that tragic second act of an opera feel to it. Just so well done and can't wait to see the next chapter.

Agreed, it was incredible and I can't wait for it to come out on dvd! The more I think about it and watch it, the more I like it.

Same. It was everything I wanted and more.

Russo's are 3/3 with their MCU contributions, and they, arguably, have the top 3 films there as well.

just caught it this afternoon, & i thought it was really terrific. i want to live with it for a while & probably catch it at least one more time before i work out how it fits into my own ranking. my initial feeling is that this is probably as good as this film could have been, but it still gets a little creaky at times, from the weight of all its characters & its rotating storylines, and that probably keeps it out of the absolute top tier.

that's not a criticism, because i think the writers & directors did an absolutely extraordinary juggling all these elements. just that by its nature, this film can't have the singular focus of some films that i'll end up rating a bit higher.
