What's the deal with Red Skull.
I've heard he's in the movie but that it's just a cameo. Is it explained why he has the soul stone? Is he alive or some kind of spirit? Is he still played by (I presume an uncredited) Hugo Weaving? Also, I've heard something is set up with him in a scene during the end credits. Is this true?
Not Hugo Weaving. That was quite glaring. Not featured in the end of credits scene.

Yeah, I was psyched to see him, but within a few seconds realized that wasn't Weaving's voice. It's like they didn't even try. Bummer.
The implication is that, by messing around with the space stone, he got sucked into the soul stone's orbit and got assigned a permanent job as its keeper.
That wasn't Hugo Weaving? I thought it sounded just like Agent Smith, actually.

It would’ve been cool if Weaving had reprised the role, but he ain’t coming back to the MCU since he had an unpleasant experience with The First Avenger. Nonetheless, seeing Red Skull appear again - and looking no different - was a pleasant surprise.
And no, he does not appear in the post-credits scene—probably the greatest ever. What happens in the post-credits (and the film’s entire ending) doesn’t really have anything to do with Red Skull.. at least not directly.
