What a delightful series.

Gentle, scenic and a wonderful soundtrack. Ran into this on Netflix and watched on a whim where it became one of the better things I have seen in a while.

If you are here considering investing time in a series consider this a recommendation.

I missed when it was on terrestrial TV and found it on Netflix. Nice little sleeper

I'm usually quite late to the party because I don't have cable and don't stream, so I just discovered this series thanks to recommendations on this board. I just finished watching the first series and can't wait to get my hands on the second one. It took me a couple of episodes to 'get' the humor but I stuck with it and by the end I was completely won over. It's a rewarding adventure to discover for yourself what's funny rather than being told via a laugh track. How refreshing. 👍

Never heard of this before, and can't find it on Netflix, unfortunately, but it sounds great. Thanks for the recommendation.

It also streams on AcornTV.

There's also a Region 2 DVD set available on Amazon (US and presumably UK) with Series 1-3 plus a Christmas special. Like GlenEllyn, we don't have cable or satellite, and streaming is iffy for us, so the only way we can watch most British programming is thanks to our region-free DVD player.

I adore this show! It's a wonderful balance of gentle, quirky, funny, realistic, and affectionate, and the photography is beautiful.

We had previously seen Mackenzie Crook as Gareth in The [original British] Office and Toby Jones as Culverton Smith on Sherlock (as well as the voice of Dobby the house elf in the Harry Potter films), and really enjoyed seeing them in something quite different from any of those roles.

One of my all time favorite comedies.

Definitely see it if you can find it.

Detectorists is one of the most refreshing shows I've watched in a long time. The scenery alone drains the stress out of a person, but then the characters are so appealing you feel like you are standing right there across from them as a member of their club. There's also the anticipation of what they will find (or won't find) to bring the viewer in.

I'm going to give it another watch. It has earned it.
