Seems like the embargo lifted today for Guardians 2 and some reviews have come out already. It's currently at 86% with 42 reviews:

I thought the early screenings said this one had 100% positive feedback, the highest in Marvel history, and many said it was easily their new favorite Marvel movie. Did we fall for plants? How can it not improve upon Guardians 1? The reviews sound good, but I'm slightly disappointed!!

I read the Reports too Of GOTG2 getting a perfect 100 in early screening...

But for Me I always knew GOTG 2 would get slightly less reviews than GOTG...

actually right now is where I always had GOTG2 ending up, I figured GOTG2 would get somewhere between 84-89% on RT

and the reason why is not because I thought GOTG2 would be bad or worse than GOTG...I just didn't believe GOTG2 could top GOTG, GOTG came out of nowhere, no one expected anything close to what it was going to become, It had such and Fun, Odd Tone, The Music and Soundtrack added so much and was so different....The Sequel just couldn't get the same response.

GOTG2 may very well be a better movie, it may have a better and more meaningful story, but its just not going to get the same overwhelming response.

So if I were you, I wouldn't be disappointed until you see it...

I think GOTG2 is probably going to be every bit as good as GOTG....its just not getting the same overwhelming response, because of expectations, Audiences and Critics aren't shocked or caught off guard by this excellent movie coming out of nowhere like they were with the Original

If GOTG2 ends up somewhere between 84-89% on RT after its all said and done...then IMO that equals pretty close to the original

It's going to divide people. Some will go in for the characters and the action and get what they wanted while others are going to feel like it could have been more. Both are true. It's fine but I don't think it will be remembered as the best in the series.

Just for the record, I'll put here the ratings from the TMDB, which I find more accurate than IMDb ratings which are often overblown by studio shills and non objective fans.

Guardians of the Galaxy... 7.9
Guardians of the Galaxy 2... 7.8

Seems that the second movie managed to repeat the awesomeness of the first movie. Can't wait to see this!

I have a hard time seeing how a sequel could ever be as "fresh" as the original. Having said that, I loved the original, but I think GotG2 is more entertaining.
