how empty was your theatre?

I went to 5pm showing yesterday (Friday). I went in bit early than usually do (usually go in when showing starts) but figured normally u got people in b4 a showing b4 all the ads/trailers and this being SW its bound to be packed so best get in there now get to my seat play on my phone and stuff...but I got in and it was empty and found my seat and then sat there for maybe 10minutes right up until the ads almost and started thinking 'holy crap this will be the first time in my life where its just me alone in a theatre watching a movie!' and went around moved from seat to seat etc toyed with idea of going to front taking a pic and tweeting 'my screening of #Solo' (and imagined getting thousands of RTs/likes) then when ads started people started coming in.. but ultimately there wasn't that many in there maybe about 12-15 in total

My theater was 50-75% full on Sunday opening weekend. But I was strait pissed I couldn't see a damn thing for the first 30 minutes I don't know if it was the screen or cinematography or what but It was worse than watching a boot leg cam video. One of the worse experiences in theater quality wise.

Ron Howard would have set the building on fire if he saw what I did in a paid for theater experience.

We had 8 people in a little $6 ticket theater in L.A.

I agree it was SUPER dark..we thought it would brighten up after they left 1st planet but no such luck. we thought it must be a broken projector. Can't imagine why it was so dark. What an odd decision.

reply

Yet an other reason why I didn't see it in the theater. I noticed the dark picture in different movie clips. That's how it was filmed. Maybe Howard thinks it adds atmosphere.

reply

Very weird decision. It's supposed to fit in with the rest of the franchise, none of which are dark. There WERE some scenes that were brighter, but overall, definitely dark.

I think anything goes with the standalones. Rogue One was supposed to be like a WW2 war movie and Solo is like a western from what I read.

Update:
The cinematographer is known for shooting dark for atmosphere and the projectionist must make certain adjustments according to this article. Like I said even the videos on the internet look too dark to me.

You're welcome.

There was about 8-10 people in mine at a 6:00 pm IMAX screening. Probably the least amount of people I've ever seen at a screening before.

what day was that?

Yesterday (Saturday).

I went and saw it today and there was only about 10 of us there!

Great film, I really enjoyed it. Much more than I thought I would.

AT my local theatre every recent SW film has shown at midnight on multiple screens and has been sold out weeks prior to release.

I got to Rogue One 20mins before it commenced at the only seat available was the front right corner.

Solo was only shown in 1 theatre at midnight, and it was around 30% full ...

Pretty empty. 8:45 showing on a Friday night. 12 people maybe. I liked the movie, though. I thought the lead actor looked too much Dennis Quaid, though.

anyone seen it recently last few days or so? must just have the cinema to themselves by now!
