Technology used to do Leia scene

I don't know how they did that but I would really like them to use that on Sean Connery so we can get a Sean Connery Bond movie. I think that would be bad ass.

The technology would have to get a LOT better, before a CGI animation can carry a lead performance.

And if you were Sean Connery, would you allow your likeness to be used that way?

reply

I agree. I really didn't like the effect at all. Very distracting. Especially for Tarkin, I would have much preferred to see a real performance by a real actor instead of this "oh look how amazing our technology is" nonsense. Charles Dance (played Tywin Lannister on GoT) would have been perfect for the role.

I completely agree here!

I watched Rogue One again yesterday, and I think that the CGI Tarkin made it painfully obvious that a great actor like Peter Cushing is more than the movement of his facial muscles.
And yes, Charles Dance would’ve made a perfect replacement. Too bad they decided to use CGI instead.

I don't think better technology would matter. Knowing it's CGI would, in itself, be distracting. Like when a stuntman does things we know the actor couldn't possibly do.

reply

Why not? He's still alive you know. It wouldn't be disrespectful. I'm curious as to why you asked that.
