Anyone else notice the PARALLELS between MORRISON and PRESLEY ???

While watching this film the PARALLELS between MORRISON and PRESLEY kept coming to mind:

* BOTH had SPIRITUAL experiences:

- As a child, Jim sees dying Native Americans lying on the road and during an interview in Stone's film version (called THE DOORS) Jim claims there were "SPIRITS FLOATING in the Breeze" and one of them leaps into his.

- As a child in the new film version (called ELVIS), Presley is described as being "In the SPIRIT" during the religious revival meeting.

* Then both of them grow up to become famous performers who are worshiped, adored, relentlessly and pursued by female fans.

* And both of them also run into troubles with the law ... MORALITY COPS who claim they were LUDE performers and needed to be locked up.

* PRESLEY also wears a BLACK LEATHER OUTFIT in the 68 COME BACK TV SPECIAL at about the same time as MORRISON was wearing his BLACK LEATHER attire.

* And after they'd both been a couple of "HUNKS of BURNING SPECTACLES," they both also died of a drug overdose.

Why do you RANDOMLY capitalize all of the LETTERS in certain WORDS in your post? If you go back and CHANGE all the CAPITALIZATION to a normal STANDARD your post would be EASIER to READ.

And spell the word wrong? It's LEWD not LUDE.

On the other hand, Elvis was extremely close to his mother, whereas Jim couldn't stand his mother, and even claimed that both of his parents were dead in Stone's film version (called THE DOORS).

But apparently there was also still the same kind of MORAL judgement involved, which we see coming from the mother of Elvis in this film version, and you can also hear the same kind of an attitude in an interview that Jim's father did (that's available for viewing on youtube ... where Jim's extremely critical father also claims that his son can't sing).

And even though Jim leaves his estate to his companion Pamela, his parents also SUED her to get HALF of it. So in that sense there was also the same kind of MONEY ISSUES involved for both MORRISON and PRESLEY over INCOME that they'd made.

Does anyone else see any other similar patterns between Jim and Elvis or maybe in comparison with other famous performers???

They both died of heart attacks.

Hello ebhaynz,

Thanks for your reply to this topic which is much appreciated.

If you listen closely to the end of this film, yes a "HEART ATTACK" is mentioned as the cause of death for PRESLEY (the same as in the case was with MORRISON).

But they also say:

"APPARENTLY" it was a HEART ATTACK ...

which most likely was a result of the DRUG ABUSE ...

which is also made EVIDENT by the DOCTOR who keeps constantly injecting ELVIS with DRUGS so that he could perform ...

and was also made evident to us by PRISCILLA ... who shoves aside several bottles full of PILLS ... when she leaves him because he refused to stop taking them.

And in still another different story about ELVIS it's also revealed how he almost KILLED PRISCILLA one time, when he gave her some drugs and she remained UNCONSCIOUS for several days as a result of that.

Here's still another story that also explains why the DRUGS he took were the actual cause of death:

The Drugs That Were in Elvis’s System When He Died - FHE Health

https://fherehab.com/learning/elvis-presley-drugs-led-to-overdose

A high number of the drugs found in Presley’s system were either barbiturates or benzodiazepines. These kinds of drugs are very addictive and should never be mixed. As demonstrated in his death, significant doses can result in depression of the nervous system to the point that suppressed breathing and heart rate can be fatal.

Through his toxicology reports, medical examiners found that he actually had traces of 14 drugs in his system, 10 of which were present in significant quantities.

Likewise, MORRISON's official cause of death was also a HEART ATTACK (at the age of 27), but we also know that his companion Pamela Courson was a heroin addict, and that NO AUTOPSY was done on JIM's body there in PARIS where he died.

But IF one had been done, they'd most likely also have found DRUGS in his system as well, because they say Jim probably snorts some of Pam's heroin assuming that it was cocaine, and the combination of heroin with his history of ALCOHOLISM would also have stopped his heart from beating.

In other words, it was most likely the DRUGS that they both used that caused their deaths. And the reason their hearts stopped beating was a result of that fact.

There were more parallels between Elvis and Johnny Cash. Both southern boys, both lost a brother, both struggled with drugs, both got started in Memphis, both signed with Sun Records, both had gospel backgrounds. They even toured together when starting out (along with Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins -- what road trips those must have been). Too bad this movie didn't have more from the pre-Parker days.

Hi ATG.

Thanks for posting your 2 very interesting and informative messages to this topic. Had no idea that Elvis once toured with Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins. I've also seen other BIO films regarding the lives of Cash and Lewis, but not one about Perkins.

Does it make you wonder if FAME itself is responsible for these parallel situations that we see???

Also recently watched the BIO movie about Hank Williams called "I saw the Light," and at first thought the Hank Snow character in the Elvis film was supposed to be a reference to Williams.

And when Elvis chose to wear that PINK SUIT for his first performance, for some reason that also reminded one of something that PRINCE might wear (if he'd also started out his career back in the 50's).

Perhaps one could also consider PURPLE RAIN to be somewhat Biographical??? You also get the impression that Prince could read sheet music in that film (due to the scene with his father where he finds all of the songs that he'd written inside of the piano bench).

Do you think someone will ever make a film about the life of PRINCE like this one that they've done about ELVIS???

It's also interesting how both PRISCILLA and APOLLONIA pursued careers as actresses after their relationships with ELVIS and PRINCE ended.

According to this link, apparently Prince also controlled the way that Apollonia looked the same way as Elvis did when he had Priscilla DYE her HAIR BLACK back when he dated her:

https://prince.org/msg/5/466882#:~:text=Apollonia%20has%20always%20insisted%20that%20she%20and%20Prince,to%20sing%20like%20him%20and%20dress%20like%20him.

The demands extended beyond romantic life. Prince also had rules regarding what the actress ate and wore. “He wanted to make everyone clones of himself,” says Apollonia. “We had to sing like him and dress like him. I still love him, but there was a side of him that was just a tyrant.”

There are a lot of parallels between two other American music legends: Prince and Hank Williams.
Both were child prodigies, prolific songwriters who gave songs away to other artists, both got injured and hooked on pain killers, neither one could read sheet music, both died young, and both turned very religious in their final years.
