Season 3, episode one discussion here

Anybody else loving this show besides me? I know it's been a while since season 2 ended, but I suspect the final season 3 should be fantastic. Season 2 knocked it out of the park. Any thoughts?

So, to recap, and someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Evie and Meg were killed by the ATF, but the cover-up story was a gas leak. But John believes she's still alive.

Erika left John and her son, while John and Laurie ended up getting together as con artists.

Kevin and Nora are still together, but something terrible happened to Lilly.

Jill has moved away from home to go to college, ending her relationship with Michael.

Michael, Matt and John are working together to write a book on Kevin's life.

Mary is leaving Matt to go back to Mapleton with Noah.

And Dean died crazy, while Kevin has regained his sanity.

Well, most of it, anyway, since Kevin likes to kill himself everyday, or at least attempt to kill himself.

Now for me to ask a few questions:

1). Did anyone else notice some type of tension between Nora and Tommy? Like, giving each other looks only people who get together behind someone's back look?

2). What do you think Nora from the future signifies?

3). Do you guys actually think Evie and Meg are dead?

4). Evie and Meg's deaths were claimed to be due to a gas leak. Weren't gas leaks hinted at in earlier seasons due to the Departures?

reply

1). Probably pertains to the loss of Lilly, which should be revealed in future episodes.

2). That the everything that's about to happen (a possible flood), was something she was a part of, but now regrets, thus name is Sarah.

3). No, but maybe departed.

4). Yes, on October 15th

reply

Thanks for the rundown. It helps. The last scene was very "Lost" ish.

Con artists who shred their money. That should be noted. Con artists usually do it for personal gain. They don't have any.

The hockey game highly distracted me last night so I will be watching this episode again tonight and will answer your four questions then.

Spock: Don't think there was tension between those two because she showed great love to him for his birthday. Maybe no Lilly is on their minds.

2). What do you think Nora from the future signifies?

Spock: I have no idea what Sarah signifies, but Sarah was Abrahams wife's name.

3). Do you guys actually think Evie and Meg are dead?

Spock: well, that missile left quite a dent and they were both there..... so you have to think yes, but this is Leftovers, so who knows?

4). Evie and Meg's deaths were claimed to be due to a gas leak. Weren't gas leaks hinted at in earlier seasons due to the Departures?

Spock: I don't recall.

1. Yes, I think Nora holds some resentment for Tommy since she likely holds him responsible for bringing Lily into her life. Whether shes aware of it or not still remains to be seen.I think she loves him like family but wishes Lily had never been brought to her since her being taken away was so painful.

2.I think Kevin likely ends up sacrificing himself for her in Australia. My guess would be that the science experiment is too tempting and she wants to see her kids again. Kevin will likely "die" to go rescue her from the purgatory hotel and only one of them will be able to return. The nun asking about Kevin probably is familiar with the story because of Matts "new" New Testament. Just a guess tho, I really have no idea.

3 & 4. Yes, Erika says she buried her daughter. Although I dont tink it was a drone that dropped a bomb on them. It probably was from a gas leak...They did mention gas leaks in the one of the episodes in season 1 because when Kevin was jogging (I think it was Garveys at their best) one of the gas lines exploded in the street. Its also mentioned in Texas too I believe.

I absolutely love, love, love this show. Episode 1 of Season 3 blew me away. The heart-wrenching music makes me want to cry. Amazing setup for the season, cannot wait for what happens next.

And the dog theory? Just blown away, that's all I can say.

We are of one voice on this one. My wife doesn't feel this show like I do, but at let she watches it with me. She keeps shaking her head saying, "What was that?" Lol

reply

I can't wait to see this. My 3 favorite series just ended and I desperately need another great show to follow on weekly basis. I just hope that season 3 is as awesome as the first two seasons.

Anyone else think the drone strike is not real and it was in fact a gas leak?

I mean, a drone strike on US soil against US citizens. With thousands of witnesses that could catch it on their phones?

Plus a single (Hellfire?) is not going to make a crater like that...

reply

Why would they try to trick us like that? We all saw the drone, right? So no, I can't believe that was a gas leak. I don't know how big a crater would be with that kind of fire power.

reply

Ya, I definitely thought the drone strike was questionable. In fact almost all these things that happen in the show seem to be an alternate type reality. There are too many coincidental things that tie the characters together for each of these things to be happening independently. I think they all somehow relate to Kevin via the future, past or present....but havent been able to discern what is actually happening and what is actually real. But thats why I love this amazing show!

reply

It is such a weird show and its been so long I barely remember any of it and I am not motivated enough to go back and rewatch it. I am not thinking much of this ... to me it is another LOST kind of thing ... it doesn't have to make sense because enough viewers will make sense of it for us, and they will like it more the more confusing and senseless it is?

reply

Lol. You are right, like Lost, this is another head scratcher but very satisfying and yes, very complex.
