I liked the ending. What else would you expect? They fail at everything they did throughout the entire season so I would expect this to happen at the end. Yahoo! style.

Leatherface will make its way to VOD eventually, in my opinion, regardless of Saw VIII becoming a hit or not.

Why are you saying trilogy? There are 4 movies. The one with Wahlberg counts as a recent Planet of the apes movie and is clearly linked in the next one.
This will be a soft reboot, meaning Jigsaw's legacy will continue with a new person pulling the strings with all the traps.
