Was George Lucas involved in the final cut?

Yay or nay?

There’s strong rumours to this effect, but as yet, I’ve seen no supporting evidence. So I’d take it with a pinch of salt.

I've heard on multiple YT channels that he was brought-in after the test screenings (WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN!!) to help correct the damage to the story line caused by TLJ.

It was also stated that he had written and directed multiple new scenes, but that JarJar left the scenes on the cutting room floor.

I'd imagine as much as James Cameron was involved in the new Terminator. Which is to say zilch. The studio wants you to think George is heavily involved so they can share the blame if the film is not good.

The decision to kill the John Connor character came from Cameron, who wanted to surprise audiences who had become invested in the character's mythology: "It's like, 'Let's just get that right off the table. Let's just pull the carpet out from underneath all of our assumptions of what a Terminator movie is going to be about. Let's just put a bullet in his head at a pizzeria in the first 45 seconds.'"

Cameron also devised the idea of a T-800 Terminator that is "just out there in this kind of limbo in the sense that he's evaluating the moral consequences of things that he did, that he was ordered to do back in his early days, and really kind of developing a consciousness and a conscience. We've seen the Terminator that was programmed to be bad; you've seen the one that was programmed to be good, to be a protector. But in both cases, neither one of them have free will."

It’s true. The leaks, the rumors — all of it. It’s all true.

reply

No not at all , I find it amusing seeing everyone so upset over a movie

Just think of it as a pre-game pep rally in the parking lot, with a lot of good-hearted smack talk back and forth between opposing fans.

reply

Probably fan rumors if Lucas was smart he'll probably stay away from this just to avoid being blamed for anything going wrong.

reply

I don't think he cares, this is not the story he wanted and was promise to keep. I wouldn't fix anything after Disney took my script and threw it in the trash.

reply

I think he definitely came in with a lot of ideas, which then they immediately threw right out. What ideas is George gonna have? All he can offer is conclusions to his stories, they don't want that. They're all about these new kids.
