Last Episode of Season 5

Am I the only one who was surprised at how this season ended? It felt as if there should have been an episode or two after the debacle at the Mosley rally to show the immediate aftermath. We know who ratted the Shelbys out but who was he talking to? Did Mosley know that Tommy was planning to kill him? What will Polly do when she finds out that Aberama is dead (RIP!) I guess we'll find .

I guess we'll find out when Season 6 arrives.

Such a cliffhanger. I guess they went with the ending being that facism is not so easily defeated. It is alive and well. Some might say this is the world we live in today with the rise of far right wing forces. Idk how I feel about this, do we really have to wait another year+ for s6? Great show but as always it ends too soon.

British MI6 collaborating with Gestapo as late as 1937 is part of the historical record. So it doesn't surprise me to see that the fascist elements Ben Younger had warned about in Section D sought to protect Mosley.

What I'm curious about is whether Churchill was complicit in moving against Tommy or whether fascist elements in Section D were acting independent of Churchill to protect Mosley. I assume most likely the latter knowing Chuchill's strong antifa cred. But he also could have been complicit should British IC have decided they had other uses for Mosley and McCavern that they needed to save them.

I agree I would have liked to have seen an 8 episode season, the pacing would have been better. It sort of seemed rushed at the end.

"We know who ratted the Shelbys out but who was he talking to?"

What do you mean "who was he talking to"? The Football Fixer is a likely MI5 asset who Finn accidentally blabbed to while all coked up which tipped off Section D to protect Mosley while Churchill remained unaware. The true history; Perish Judah was a rallying call for a fascist anti-Semitic organisation the Right Club in 1939 which was opposed by Churchill and infiltrated by MI5 plants.

"Did Mosley know that Tommy was planning to kill him?"

No.

"What will Polly do when she finds out that Aberama is dead (RIP!)"

Be pissed I'd imagine.

Polly will be pissed and to get revenge she'll have to support Tommy. The football fixer is probably the rat but what did Gina mean by "option two." Gina and or Michael could be conspiring with the government. If Polly ends up getting wacked in pursuit of revenge then it'll make killing Michael easier for Tommy.

If it's not Section D that came to rescue Mosley from Tommy's assassination attempt, then it's Michael in a new alliance between Gina's American family, Michael, and IRA switching to Mosley's side coming to his rescue. That would satisfy the "option 2" theory.

McCavern is either a IRA or MI5 plant since he appeared reluctant to engage in the fascist Heils when confronted by Mosley, making it clear he was no fascist "true believer". If either is true then Aberama was doomed regardless since MI5 was already well aware of Tommy's plans as Churchill informed him, and if he was an IRA plant newly aligned with Gina-Michael, the doublecross from Michael would have tipped McCavern to get the jump on Aberama.

That would set up an interesting story arch conflict between Polly-Michael by indirectly making Michael responsible for Aberama's death.

I like this theory...Michael's 'option 2' statement leaves the door open for it all to be the case

S6 should be a barn burner

couldn't finish the season

Regardless of whether you like Tom Hardy or not (I'm not a big fan).... When Alfie magically reappeared, I couldn't believe that they'd use this tired cliche. Ridiculous.
