What a snoozefest

I love tv dramas like fargo, true detective and Hannibal but peaky blinders is just a whole lot of nothing. Boring characters, nothing interesting going on. Talk about overrated. I have no idea why people like this show.

I agree.

Weetabix for breakfast and nothing else!

Did you see any of Tom Hardy's scenes?

reply

Yes, Tom Hardy was charismatic but he couldn’t save this show.

What did you think of the atmosphere of the show? I agree that it took awhile to get the plot moving, but I enjoyed it. It's not my favorite, but it's better than most shows. I had trouble following some of it because the accents.

I had the english subtitles on so following it wasn’t the issue. And I couldn’t really get a vibe of the atmosphere of the show to be honest and I personally don’t even think a plot is necessary but in that case something else should be interesting like the visuals or characters.

I'm glad to read your post. I was thinking about watching it, but now I won't.

Different strokes. Hell, I find Fargo to be dull and simply “meh” myself (also apart from season 1, I haven’t found much excitement in True Detective). Peaky Blinders, on the other hand, keeps me fully invested and even entertained. The time period, settings, cinematography, direction, storylines, offbeat musical choices, and last but not least the actors make it a super appealing and excellent show to me.

Like most gangster films and shows, PB focuses on a bunch of violent criminals (sure, the Blinders are less showy and charismatic than your wise guys), and yet something about these individuals makes the viewer - evidently not every viewer - care about their lives and what not. It’s worth noting that the show is notably subtle compare to other well-known gangster shows.

So a whole lot of nothing and overrated? (lol “couldn’t save this show”.) Beg to differ. It just wasn’t your cup of tea. I could perhaps understand why to some people it can be a drag to watch, but even so that doesn’t mean the show is unworthy of its acclaim. All that said, it’s one of the greatest shows of its time; obligatory in MY opinion.
