Undeservingly, it's absolute crap. It was not a terrible movie. I've gotten pretty good at telling when critics are on the take.

No way in hell Wonder Woman deserved 97%. No.

reply

I agree with the critics. Wonder Woman>>>Pirates of the Caribbean>The mummy

reply

Yeah, I liked Wonder Woman and Pirates wasn't horrible either but The Mummy I couldn't wait to end.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here-https://youtu.be/rrT_CyvSp5c

reply

Big difference between coincidentally agreeing with the critics and TRYING your hardest to agree with them.

The Mummy was a much better made film than Wonder Woman.

reply

didn't have to try that hard. the mummy is a horribly made film all around

reply

Dude, find a real job. You're never going to be a legit movie critic. Enough, it's 2017, no one cares.

reply

It is a real job and I want it.

reply

Pretty sad. No one reads movie reviews from people who don't work at big newspapers. It never was a great career. Most of these people are probably what you'd call, sales reps for studios. Since they buy ads in papers or are part of studios that have interests in these media outlets, you can't trust a word they say.

Also, everyone is a movie reviewer these days. I'd trust someone on here or the IMDB before some paid critic. I also don't side with reviews that "sound good." I wonder how a critic can hit the nail on the head for some films, then for another film, act like they saw a totally different film and totally misjudge it? They're getting bribed. If pharmaceutical reps can bribe doctors, a studio rep can easily bribe a critic, come on.

reply

only thing sad is this argument. I've learned a great deal from film and from reviewers who have taken the time to think about what the film is trying to say and I hope to follow in that great tradition of people who still give it the respect it deserves. maybe everyone is a reviewer, but not everyone has a wide knowledge of film or takes that time like Roger Ebert to encourage people to think about it in different ways.

reply

Have you ever had a real job? This is sad. You are pretty close to being nuts.

reply

Critics have been waiting years to rake Tom over the coals.

"I've gotten pretty good at telling when critics are on the take."

HAHAHA You're cute.

reply

Yeah, I stand by what I said. Don't need to listen to little kids like you.

reply

So it seems.... For what it's worth, I didn't think it was awful. Worthwhile movie.

reply

Do you like it quite a bit? I wanna see it. But the trailers and word of mouth not so good.

reply

It entertained me, and that's the best thing I can say about it. Not easy to defend a movie with this much criticism, but I thought it had its good aspects (particularly the performances and effects). So yeah, while it has its problems, I liked it just fine.

reply

I'll see about catching it.

reply

I enjoyed it myself. Not sure why the critics hate it so much. It entertained me, which is all I care about.

reply

Apparently, Hollywood studios have caught on and are ready to declare war on Rotten Tomatoes. I hope they get exposed.

reply

Critics are exaggerating - it's an entertaining movie. Maybe a little too long, Tom Cruise survived a couple of unsurvivable situations without any logical explanation, and Dr Jekyll is in the movie for no good reason. But I take Rotten Tomatoes verdicts with a grain of salt ever since the movie Passengers where it became obvious that critics criticized "anything but the movie itself".

reply

John Wick and Trainwreck made me have serious doubt. Same for Ghostbusters.

The hate for Iron Fist was pretty bizarre, and it pretty much poisoned the opinions of everyone else interested in it. It just didn't make sense at all. We're seeing all these BIZARRE RT scores, like Wonder Woman getting 97% while the Mummy gets 18% or some crap? That screams organized hit job, to be honest.

Oh yeah, there's no way Mad Max and Get Out had perfect or one bad review on its release date. Not a chance. I saw Get Out. There is just no way that only Armond White didn't like that movie. No way.

reply

Those are good examples, except for Mad Max :)

The Mummy now fell to 16% on Rotten Tomatoes (the audience rating is 44%). With the discrepancies in ratings like this one, one can't help but think that there's an orchestrated effort among critics to bring the movie down.

reply

Now, I know you liked Mad Max. I thought it was good too. But to have like 1 bad review on opening day? There's no way, considering so many critics hate action movies and this wasn't even some pretentious, artsy-fartsy one with an amazing story. It wasn't really feminist because the women needed Max to beat the War Boys and escape Immortan Joe. I think it's a bit ridiculous there weren't 10 or 15 critics that couldn't stand it. Or more, because it's an action film.

The Mummy really deserved 50 or 60%. I could have lived with that. I liked it a heck of a lot more than Wonder Woman. For it to get like 16% reeks. It doesn't make sense.

reply

Yeah . . . that's what I don't get. 18% is ridiculously low for what I saw last week. I haven't read any critics' reviews so I just don't get the hate.

I just came from WW, and I really enjoyed that movie. I understand the score for it, but the one for The Mummy really makes no sense to me.

reply

The score for Wonder Woman is ridiculous. It was an awful movie. As time goes on, look at IMDB's audience reviews. More and more people are trashing it.

reply

Really? That's your barometer for quality? IMDb user reviews?

You really are a special case.

reply

I didn't think it was awful. What didn't you like about it?

Admittedly, I liked both Batman v. Superman: DOJ and Man of Steel. They entertained me, and I found WW entertaining too!

reply

You have no taste.

reply

Coming from you, that's a compliment.
