So the aliens instinctively know that David's on their side, helping to propagate their species? I figured they were more aggressive than that, but do recall they won't attack a human if it's already got an embryo in them.

He also said something about blowing on its nose to make it bond to one's self.

I figured that David found a way to imprint with them and establish some sort of bond. Plus they may have sensed him as nonhuman.
