Do you think the character of SD Jones will be in this? He was my favorite wrestler

reply

Just watched this. SD Jones made an unaccredited cameo. When David was in Japan, he sent a letter to Kevin and SD Jones was the postal carrier who delivered it to the house.

reply

Wow, I had no idea that SD Jones was also a postal carrier. Too bad he never used that as part of his wrestling gimmick

He was okay. Kinda looked too ethnic but at the same time I know there have been plenty of white people playing every other race so it’s all good.

Kinda seemed like an inflated almost satirical portrayal of Flair, but that works lol some parts of it had me cracking up. When he comes in the locker room after the fight, that seemed accurate.

I have to say, the Flair portrayal didn't work for me at all. White, bushy hair does not a Ric Flair make. I didn't think he had the look, the voice or the mannerisms.

reply

Yeah it was second-rate.

reply

that was a terrible imitation of Flair. A guy like Jack Black would have nailed it.

reply

Ric Flair is an exaggeration of character and he's fun.

I think maybe they did want to really want to acknowledge that type of character.
Doesn't play into the depression of this film.

Flair was a star back then. He had his outlandish promo's but promo's like this showed how much more charisma he had than the Von Erich's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T72Y9fV2p7Y
The Von Erichs were better wrestlers but Flair was money everywhere he went.
