Joan got way too much focus

This honestly felt like the Joan Crawford show with Bette Davis making occasional appearances, i would have liked Bette to get just as much focus as Joan did, because it felt like we was watching Joan Crowford's life story that Davis appeared in briefly.

They sold this as a show about Bette Davis and Joan Crawford, and i got the impression that the show was gonna be split between then in terms of screen time etc, but they really gave Joan way too much screen time while neglecting Bette.

Sometimes an episode would come on and we'd be seeing Joan for 25 straight minutes without a mention or an appearance by Bette. Then when Bette would appear it'd be briefly and we'd be right back to Joan.

She is the more tragic figure.

This. I can see why she'd be more focused on. Her fall from stardom, her psychological problems, the family drama, it made for a juicier lead than Bette Davis. I did like Sarandon but she felt more like a caricature.

Im glad. Could not stand Bette Davis.

Interesting. That's why they make pistachio and rocky road.

I noticed that as well, but how the whole story developed and why maybe it was a little more Lange's project than Susan's, ultimately it didn't bother me. Like someone else here said, Crawford's story may have just been a bit more compelling while Davis eased into her retirement a little more gracefully. While at first I found it a little distracting, I think they did their best with such a brief project. Maybe Sarandon had more other commitments, who knows? I enjoyed the series for what it was, not what I wanted it to be.

Probably trying to restore some of Joan's reputation which took a hit following Mommie Dearest.
