Hollywood is dying..

The new Star Bores, endless boring and meaningless sequels to Star Trek, Spiderman, The Hulk. Not to mention the countless soulless remakes/reimagining/sequels/prequels/ of classic 80's movies(Ghostbusters, The Thing, Tron, KOTCS).

And now THIS, a lame, loud, long, laborious sequel to Blade Runner. One that should have never been touched. If you don't make a sequel within the first THREE decades, FORGET IT.

Correction: Hollywood is DEAD.

reply

Nobody can deny that originality has taken a back seat within mainstream Hollywood but I certainly would not lump Blade Runner in with these other titles. Some may fault it for being overly artistic but the film was definitely ambitious.

reply

I'll agree Denis does have a lot of potential.

reply

I wonder about the whole ambitious thing... I mean... does large "LOOKING" CGI sets make it ambitious? Because those are not real, just computer graphics. Which doesn't impress me at all anymore since a 9 year old with a MAC can do those. Now, if the large CGI sets actually push the PLOT somewhere, that would be something. But these were merely location back grounds.

Other than lots of saturated colors and neat sci-fi cities, I fail to see a "masterpiece" here as mentioned in all the purchased "reviews". Seems like all the dumbing down mentioned above has caused everyone to set the review bar pretty low these days.

reply

The entertainment bar certainly is set low, I don't think people remember what quality entertainment is like anymore.

reply

Yeah, you are right. And that is the problem: everyone accepts what they are given and then it makes TONS of money pleasing most, so they run with that. :(

reply

Coming out with one boring Sci-Fi movie every October isn't helping much.

reply

Yes, and think about how Hollywood took down iMDB discussion groups. Why? The truth was hurting their business. Now Hollywood is manipulating the scores on Rotten Tomatoes.

They'll probably start attacking Moviechat, once it gets big enough.

reply

“Hey I didn’t like this movie, so the positive scores/ratings/reviews for it must be fake. By the way, I’m completely retarded.”

reply

“the purchased reviews”

Oh my god... What a complete and utter moron.

reply

you are correct. NO ONE has ever paid for false reviews. I just made that up. ;)
Seriously. Are you really for real with this?? Wow. Just wow.

reply

Mostly. I still have hopes for the future though. I agree with a lot of what you said here.

I'm trying to go for an engaging, funny youtube channel so, if you have the time, take a look. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance. A review of the movie here- https://youtu.be/T8kS7nSeCQs

reply

Well, that’s just like your opinion, man.

Yes, I quoted a classic from the better days. All in all, 2017 has seen some great films, and 2049 is one of the greatest sequels ever made (in my opinion, man.)

reply

Everything has to be a fucking travesty with you man!🎳

reply

By that logic Hollywood has been dead for like 2 decades. But seriously how many movies are released every year? There's always quality stuff coming out both mainstream and indie. Your being a snob

reply

You're right of course, Rock Dog was a hoot.
