The HISTORY Channel’s seven and a half-hour miniseries event “Abraham Lincoln” will be a definitive biography of the 16th president, the man who led the country during its bloodiest war and greatest crisis. Executive produced by world-renowned presidential historian and Pulitzer Prize®-winning bestselling author Doris Kearns Goodwin and based upon her best-selling book, “Leadership: In Turbulent Times,” this miniseries will premiere over Presidents’ Day weekend airing across three consecutive nights on Sunday, February 20, Monday, February 21 and Tuesday, February 22 at 8pm ET/PT.

From Lincoln’s impoverished childhood to his days as a young prairie lawyer and budding politician, through his unlikely election to the presidency and his assassination only five days after the end of the Civil War, “Abraham Lincoln” offers viewers new and surprising insights into the man consistently ranked by historians and the American people as the country’s greatest president. Viewers will learn of the lesser-known aspects of Lincoln’s life and leadership through premium dramatic live-action scenes where his humility, empathy, resilience, ambition, political acumen, and humor are on full display. Combined with expert interviews, archival photos and news accounts, Lincoln's letters, writings and speeches, and remembrances from his contemporaries, this miniseries provides a fresh, contemporary understanding of the complexities of young Abraham Lincoln who grows to become President Lincoln, the man who saved the Union, won the war and secured emancipation.

Too bad he didn't have the long term vision to really save the union, and too bad he did not live longer. The Confederacy has been in a covert war against this country since it lost, and now it seeks to turn that loss into a victory.

But why does the image for Abraham Lincoln here not match the picture?

reply

The only people trying to destroy America are Democrats. You know Democrats? The ones who fought to keep slavery? The ones who fought against civil rights legislation? The ones who created and supported the KKK? Yeah, them Democrats! The same ones today who pander to the black voter and yet do almost nothing to really help them. If anything, black people in Democrat led cities are getting much worse.

reply

Your idea of America is extreme inequality, racism, homophobia ... and since you live back into the 1800's I guess that's why you have not realized that the times and parties have changed. Your arguments are old, outdated, and like you give a crap about blacks is funny. You spend your days going around looking for places to post this kind of garbage until you die of OD on Fentanyl. Good riddance to rubbish.

reply

No. I believe in equality. That's why I hate affirmative action. I wish black people were as awesome as they want us to believe. But they aren't. The facts are clear. Except in sports and in rap music. And gangs. They are doing progressively worse in academics and that is the major reason they are not more represented in many industries. Not because of racism.

Each episode is available On Demand the day after it airs, at least on Xfinity/Comcast.

reply

Episode 3, On Demand from Comcast, ended with Lincoln leaving a field hospital, followed by 6 minutes of commercials. He had been told that Stanton had been in an accident. No end of the war, no Ford's Theater, no nothing.

Thanks, History Channel. Go back to shows about Bigfoot and UFOs and other fake history.

reply

Could be interesting, as long as it's not Abra-woke Lincoln.
