Alive did the crash and aftermath better

While this movie is better overall the plane crash and aftermath were actually done much better in Alive. Here it is incredibly rushed with the crash done in about 30 seconds and basically skipping over showing the injuries of the passengers to them immediately being holed up in the plane

reply

Yes I noticed this too. It's almost as if Society had seen Alive and had decided not to waste the audience' time showing the same stuff. Maybe it was deliberate showing things from a different angle.

Yes it was rushed though I totally agree.

Yes, Bayona saw Alive and decided to bring in the men who were actually there as technical advisors, as well as the relatives of the dead. What we got was the truth, not what Marshall and Kennedy concocted for their Hollywood story. I'm sticking with the now 14, since Javier Methol died in 2015 and Coche Inciarte died in 2022, who it actually happened to.

reply

Coche died in 2023. He actually has a cameo in the movie - he is in the background in the bar scene. He also was able to see the movie at a special viewing before he died.

The plane crash was the best part of Alive. It was harrowing watching several passengers, strapped to their chairs, sucked out the gaping hole where the back of the plane used to be.

Alive wins on that front, I haven’t seen the rest of SOS yet.

reply

You’re an idiot. Stick to Michael Bay movies. Alive was a terrible movie with terrible acting, changed names and fictional story line

reply

But you can't deny that the plane crash was really well made in Alive.

reply

It was
But Society crash was more realistic to what actually happened.

Frank Marshall never set foot in the Valley of Tears. JA Bayona and his sound designer and fx designer went up there and spent about six days mapping out the entire area. Bayona found out through discussions with the 16 who survived the crash and slide were not that smooth as it was in Alive. In Society of the Snow, we see the fuselage hitting several rocks on the way down. That is depicted in SOS. That's what happens when you have a team dedicated to the truth, not Hollywood's version of it.

reply

Yeah, I know. I loved Society of the Snow. I think it's better In every way than Alive. I was just pointing out that the crash was really well made in Alive, I mean it still looks great today.

reply

I always took it as the movie is shown as how everyone remembers it. The plane crash was bad and everyone remembers it, but it was just short and then done. The horror of the first night took e.g. same amount of time and that's what the survivors also more remember. But then the long desperate waiting is the real thing which made it bad for the survivors.

reply

According to those 16 men who survived it, "Society of the Snow" wins hands down. What happened in Alive was not the truth according to Nando Parrado who tried to tell Mrashall what he was doing wrong. It was exause of that, the relatives of the dead and some if the survivors refused to allow their names to be used. Bayona had the complete trust of all the men who survived and the families of the 29 who perished.

reply

Totally agree. I just came here to say the same thing. It was boring.

Didn’t bother watching anything after the crash. I saw the previous two films so this one wasn’t going to tell me anything new. No clue why they remade it.

reply

You’re a moron. The reason to keep watching so you can see the truth and not the bullshit Hollywood drama you watched previously you dope

reply

You’re an idiot. You just want the explosions and more explosions. This movie is about human relationships and coping and teamwork. If you a want gory gratuitous baloney stick to Michael Bay movies
