First "ok" review I've seen

This is the first "so-so kind of ok" review I've seen.

Pretentious, I think that is the key word, and it does sound like Nolan.

reply

It must seem pretentious to a certain caliber of mind--but you know, I think this movie is going to be a hit!

reply

Sound more and more like a shill to me.

reply

As someone who enjoyed many of Nolan’s film this one definitely does seem pretentious and a bit awards bait-y.

At least the way some critics are talking about it and giving it 10/10 and 5 stars (A lot of British reviewers that see Nolan as a God of filmmaking.)

I’m British and I think Nolan’s a good filmmaker but he seems to have made this film purely for awards. This will most definitely win big at the BAFTA awards and many other awards shows.

I guess I can’t really blame him, he was probably fed up of having critical and commercial success whilst also getting snubbed at awards ceremonies.

reply

That is actually quite a surprise to me, that he never won any major awards, not even a lousy golden globe.

No wonder he tried so hard.

reply

Award ceremonies seem to have a bias against sci-fi but they’ll gush over historical drama films so this says to me that it’s finally Nolan’s year with Oppenheimer.

He should have been nominated and won directing for Inception back in 2011 but oh well.

reply

I agree that Nolan should have won for Inception. Back then there was nobody to touch him. But I don't really like his artistic choices.

reply

There's hundreds of reviews out, most of them very positive. What world are you living in?

reply

The same world as you apparently.

As I said, this was the first, and so far the only, review where the reviewer gave it an "OK" review.

All the others I've seen have been extremely positive.

reply

Why in the world would you think that is "post-worthy," especially a YouTube posting? SMH

reply

Go fuck yourself shitstick. He has a right to free speech.

reply

🤣

reply

Are those reviews or a part of marketing campaign? It is kind of hard to tell.

For example why are you so anxious about an average review of a movie you haven't even seen?

reply

There's lots of reviews by serious critics-Stephanie Zacharak (Time Magazine) and Leonard Maltin, to name just two. I'm not "anxious" for this movie, I'm just gobsmacked that for every movie that doesn't have car chases and buckets of blood the Lower Slobovians will be sure to cry "Pretentious!"

reply

i don't care about youtuber's reviews. any idiot can do that.
