Typical 'small world' American mentality

Yes, the show is about a small section of one part of the US. But how narrow-minded to never bother for a diverse group of post-apocalyptic humans to never ask each other about...i dunno- the rest of the world? I suppose these characters are supposed to think they ARE the world?

In a way that Day after Tomorrow did include, for example?

Who cares? The show is about these people, not about other people in Bangladesh or whatever. What a silly point.

Thanks for demonstrating my point. Silly person.

You don't have a point, you're just complaining that this show isn't like some other show. The point of this show is to focus on these characters, not to show how the world is doing. That's why there is no story behind it and it's just day-to-day stuff happening.

It would have been interesting closer to the beginning if the survivors had gotten hold of a Ham radio or something and tried to make contact around the country and the world.
I think I heard they regretted the CDC storyline but I thought it was one of the more realistic touches of something people would actually do. Likewise, I think an interest in other survivors around the country and the world would also be one of those things that would interest most survivors.

I guess it could be argued that just trying to survive has been too much of a diversion to hunker down and try to make contact beyond themselves. Everything that has happened to them has supposedly been within a 2 year span and they've been pretty busy just trying to keep their head above water.

At this point and beyond they would be unable to easily reach any other destination,,Gas is gonna crap out on them even if they had a pilot. A sailboat would take forever...
But with all the other survivors they're finding then it's a good bet that there are survivors all over the world and somewhere and somehow there would have to be Scientist still working on the virus and trying to find a cure. There would also still be places that are probably relatively unscathed by the infection compared to denser populations.
It would be good to see (during the 2 year jump when things have settled down) them trying to make contact with others.

I agree with everything you say here.

People would've tuned into the radio and TV during the beginning of the outbreak and would know that the virus was worldwide. But, they would want to know if some part of government has still survived. They had made attempts to find out by going to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, trying to make radio contact and finding out the source of the military helicopter that was flying overhead. And there was Eugene's mission to Washington which turned out to be bogus.

If it was limited to the American continent, then it would make sense that they would've seen a foreign presence by now which hasn't happened.

At this point, they've probably have given up hope for a government rescue (foreign or domestic) and have turned to creating a new society for themselves - once people stop attacking them.

It was implied that the virus was worldwide and the rest of the world is in bad shape, too. Fear the Walking Dead was supposed to resolve what took place in the early days of the virus.
