Lazy Eye Changing Sides

What is with Paul Giamatti's lazy eye changing from his left eye to his right eye throughout the film? It was very distracting with it changing scene to scene. I can't imagine with everyone involved in this film it went unnoticed. Does anyone have a possible explanation?

reply

Yeah but at least he explained which one to look at.

reply

How could they not notice this when filming? It happens every other scene.

reply

Exactly. There must be some explanation. Nobody could be that oblivious. Maybe Giamatti had trouble keeping the contact in the same eye for the whole shoot?

reply

IT WASN'T AN INTENTIONAL JOKE?...WEIRD.

reply

Could be. I would like confirmation from Payne or Giamatti on that one.

reply

I can't imagine people would be banging down his door for the answer to that one though... :-P

reply

So that even though the film is told from Paul's point view, we see Paul from Angus' point of view (who can never tell which eye is his good one). This or it's just a joke. A funny one, I find.

reply

The only time I noticed the lazy eye changing side is when Paul wakes up after the party. It's so obvious that it has to be intentional.

reply

Probably whatever the actor had to wear to achieve that effect was painful so they switched eyes from time to time.
