Give me you TOP 10 funniest movies in the 2000s...

Give me your TOP 10 funniest movies in the 2000s, I'm not saying the best comedy movies with excellent plot and all but the ones that you laughed in the theater or at home so loud that your stomach ache. I won't judge harshly if I have a disagreement. I want to know more about movies that can significantly release my stress mode.

Without arrangement of order (As far as I can remember):

1. Scary Movie 1
2. Bridesmaids
3. The Brothers Grimsby
4. Nacho Libre
5. Movie 43
6. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising
7. La La Land
8. Pitch Perfect 1 and 2 (Guilty to arrange it as two movies, LOL)
9. White Chicks
10. The Other Guys

reply

Your taste in comedy sucks. Maybe the first Scary Movie would be in there. Everything else...no.

reply

Would love to hear some alternative suggestions. One of the reasons I opened this thread is because the 2000s felt like such a weak era for comedy & I was hoping I overlooked something.

I liked Idiocracy, Team America, Mean Girls, Tropic Thunder, Hot Rod, Jared/Jershua Hess movies, Diablo Cody movies. People I trust say MacGruber, Best Worst Movie & Other Guys were solid.

So some overlap with the OP. But La La Land was a comedy?

reply

Well for my taste in comedy, I enjoyed these ones:

Freddy Got Fingered
MacGruber
Team America: World Police
Borat
Bruno
Me, Myself and Irene
Anger Management
Joe Dirt

The following two not many people probably agree, but I liked them:

The Master of Disguise
Little Nicky

Now these are all movies that made me laugh the most, so in my book, they are the best comedies. There are probably better movies that are considered comedies, but for sheer laughter inducement in me, those above are tops (I may be forgetting some)

reply

Macgruber was good but its 2010 which is technically not in the 2000s.
I wanted to add the movie Spy too but turns out it was in 2015.

reply

IDK. The 1st millenium started in year 1 & lasted through the year 1000. OTOH, Y2K was a big deal & nobody remembers 2001. Either way, MacGruber was ridiculous. And hilarious. Favorite scene was the van.

I'm intrigued by Freddy Got Fingered. So many people seem to HATE that movie. But a lot of people love it.

reply

So year zero isn't part of anything?

I need to watch Freddy Got Fingered to find out for myself. Not a big fan of his but could be good.
Also need to rewatch MacGruber. So funny. I like the "Getting the team together" scene.

reply

Not in the western calendar, no. We went from 1 BC to 1 AD.

reply

Is a year's number the retroactive measure of the year that transpired before it or the year that is unfolding?

reply

I'm out of my depth, here. But We say we're "0 years old" at birth. Our age is counted in months, until 12 months when we're "1 year old".

So...1 AD should be 0 AD?

reply

Off the top of my head:

Borat
Bruno
Semi-pro
Kung Pow
You Dont Mess With The Zohan
O Brother, Where Art Thou?
Clerks II
Walk Hard
Black Dynamite
Bad Santa

Honorable mention:The Room, Birdemic

reply

That’s a tall order. Uh...

Super Troopers
Freddy Got Fingered
Step Brothers
Idiocracy
Borat
Clerks 2
Mean Girls
Wedding Crashers
Saving Silverman
Super Bad

All those are on the older side so I will give an honorable mention to Good Boys. I watched it a few times and found it pretty funny. The kids did a really good job and I usually don’t think kids are all that funny.

reply

1. Idiocracy

4. Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie for Theaters
5. The Rundown

9. Be Kind Rewind
10. Hangover

11. Bridemaids

I was trying to go with straight comedy but Shaun of the Dead is absolutely a top 10.

I've seen a lot of the movies mentioned in this thread, and every time I sat down to watch one I had expectations that they'd make me laugh, yet I was left disappointed. For the past few years, I haven't read reviews or watched trailers, I've just read the synopsis and looked at the scores on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes.

I seem to prefer dramedy to straight up comedy, as I usually like an interesting plot and some dramatic scenes to go with the humorous moments.

As for straight up comedies that I've enjoyed:
Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Monty Python's The Life of Brian, Coming to America, Office Space, Idiocracy, There's Something About Mary, What We Do in the Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok, and Hot Fuzz.

As far as I can recall, those are the only comedies I've seen that have made me laugh out loud, but I'll make a list of ones released post-2000 that were amusing at least.

1. What We Do in the Shadows
2. Thor: Ragnarok
3. Idiocracy
4. Hot Fuzz
5. The World's End
6. Easy A
7. Super Troopers
8. Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
9. Four Lions
10. The 40-Year-Old Virgin
