4 Episodes in and....not bad....

Well, the series is pretty good. It's telling several stories at once and keeping them interesting.

And even Crate and Barrel are back in Episode 4 - their humor adds quite a bit to the show.

I'm also enjoying the Stephen Chang role as Bosch's go to tech guy.

But so far my biggest surprise is that in the original series I could not stand Bosch's daughter but she is growing on me in the new series. Watching her physical stuff (as the previous poster mentions) is kind of humorous, though.

Great to see William Devane, too.

Hoping that Jimmy (Paul Calderone) and his bartender-maybe-girlfriend Shaz (Verona Blue) will make an appearance.

i'd like to see Matthew Lillard's character come back for a recurring role

Yes, other than the key characters like J Edgar and Billets etc., the biggest loss for me was Jimmy. His twisted smile irony always was one step ahead of Bosch's intensity. He was just not having it, ha.

I'm also enjoying this new series. I noticed a difference in Maddie too. She's grown up a lot and her lines and reactions are much better than in the past. Her character is being written much different now.

Yeah, Crate and Barrel are fun! It's also good to see that even though they're retired, they're able to still do a little police type work which they enjoy so much.

I'm hoping Jamie Hector (partner Jerry) will make an appearance or two at some point.

he does

Yeah, the series is good. I wish Maddie looked older than about sixteen, which would make her more plausible as a big-city cop. I like Chang's character, but he mumbles and slurs, making him hard to understand at times.
