Can people still cosplay as Velma?

Men pretending they are women is apparently accepted by the left, but pretending they are a black person is racist. What gives?

it all started with this cosplay stuff, 20 years algo only children dressed up, it's become normalized, like most films and shows are about superheros, sci-fi....

adults doing this stuff was always going to end in a loose grip on reality. most adults are like children, children play make believe. they accept this trans stuff because fiction reigns.

reply

Adults have always liked dressing up. Theater, masquerades, Halloween parties...nothing wrong with adults having a bit of escapist fun.

reply

it's given us people who dress up and identify as cats.

reply

Well if you are talking about the kinky fetishy stuff, I'm okay with it as long as they do it behind closed doors and not in front of kids. But that never seems to be the case. The world is getting pretty freaky! Jinkies!!!!

reply

it's not the kinky stuff, it's more that i've noticed our society change a lot, i see that cinema is more about sci-fi and superheros and wizards, cats that talk, i see 50 year old men reading harry potter. the world wasn't like that 20 years ago.

And i suppose you could say it's harmless, but what i see is an older generation that more and more has a loose grip on reality, that is regressing to a child like state. children play at things, they play cowboys, they play at princesses, they play make believe. but in the past, they grew out of it.

i see a relation between 50 year old men playing video games, watching cartoons, reading books about wizards and a society that has no problem believing you can identify as a cat, that a man can be a woman, because our society and culture is now based on make believe.

reply

It's funny. I actually think that as a society, people are far less imaginative now.

It's kinda strange to think about...a society less in touch with reality but simultaneously less creative.

I see what you are both saying. I admit I've always kind of acted like a kid (I'm an animator, I build creature costumes for comic cons, I do local theater etc) and am fine with that. But I also accept life's responsibilities first. It seems most people don't want to leave home, get a job, drive a car. And yes even most of the cosplayers don't have much of an imagination. They can only dress up as existing characters. People are hooked on media and get spoon fed EVERYTHING by people in Hollyweird and tech giants who really want us all dead. Well dang now I'm depressed :(
