Sounds like Niles will be there. I wonder about Daphne, Roz, Ronnie, even Eddie

Eddie would be a stretch. John Mahoney will be missed.

Would be fun to see Bulldog again...

Eddie was only there because of Martin, who won't be there. Not only that, but if the show is set in real time, nearly three decades after the original began, that would make Eddie at least thirty years old.

"three decades after the original began"

OMG, it really has been nearly 20 years since it ended. Time flies!

Kelsey Grammar is now about fifteen years older than John Mahoney was when the original series started.

It might be despressing to see how much the original cast has aged in the past two decades. Last I saw of DHP years ago in some minor suspense movie he had lost most of his hair. I saw Jane Leeves in some brief series a few years back looking more... bountiful... than her Frasier years.

This is why I never went back to any of my high school reunions...

Actually sounds like Niles may not be coming back. David Hyde Pierce is opposed to doing the reboot.

If they do this, I hope they can manage to keep it like the original--non-political, non-ideological, non-climatological, and overall non-woke.

What show did you watch? Martin and Faiser endorsed political candidates.... of opposite ends of the political. Fraiser talks politics regularly. It's not a pillar of the show or anything, but it's clear where he stands on things.

reply

I don't remember there being much politics except in a general liberal versus conservative values clash that was usually played for laughs. And it certainly didn't throw up the rampant extremism that is a trait of politics today.

That was the thing that sunk the Murphy Brown re-boot. They leaned way too hard into current politics and movements, sucking any joy out of it. Even the Will & Grace re-boot got overly preachy to the point where I almost gave up on it. And don't even get me started on the final season of Brooklyn Ninety Nine... that was awful. I gave up on it before it was done.

What specific candidates were endorsed in Frasier along the way? I don't remember.

reply

There was an episode where Martin appeared in a commercial for a tough long crime candidate for Congress. Of course Niles and Frasier are appalled, so they find a liberal candidate to their likening and donate and endorse him; but turns out he thinks he's been the victim of alien abduction at some
point in his past so that sinks his candidacy! It's a funny episode, but the idea that such a turn of events would keep a left-winger from winning In Seattle is even funnier!

Niles and Daphne are probably going to show up, most likely as cameo appearance, they don't really need 2 pretentious old guys.

But Niles and Daphne should have children too, and they could become regulars, the story of new Crane generation. Of course they should be about 15 years younger than Frederick, in their early 20s or younger.
