Biggest bait and switch I've ever seen.

It cannot get worse than this: a movie titled Mad Max: this and that, turns Max into a mumbling moron that cannot do anything right.
He is inconsequencial to the story, and he is quickly sidelined to a boring woman who is the real hero and protagonist of this """Mad Max""" movie.

I want my money back.

It's a valid criticism, the movie is about Furiosa's quest and Furiosa's righting of wrongs, and Max just sort of stumbles in and out of the story without accomplishing much while he's there.

Personally I was fine with that, as Furiosa is a much more interesting character than Max, and her quest to find her people formed the framework for a kickass action movie. But yeah, she's the real star of the show, anyone who tuned in to see Max is going to be let down.

reply

Yeah, I agree with you.
Had they called it "Furiosa: a Mad Max sequel" or something like that, I would have been fine with it.

I hated the bait and switch, as I did tune in to see Mad Max (and not this mute idiot we got in his namesake).

reply

That's bait.

This needs to be repeated over and over again.

Note MM 4 really didn't make much money neither.

reply

Despite this, which is one of the first occurrences I have seen, it is still a great film.

Same shit in season 3 of the Mandalorian.

MM:FR proves that "Bait & Switch Girl Power Franchise Male Lead Cuckage" and "Decent Movie" are not mutually exclusive.

reply

Yes but the Bait & Switch ruined it.
I would call it a good movie had they been honest about it and said it was about Furiosa.
But I went to see a Mad Max movie. As a new movie about Mad Max, this was shit.

reply

Yeah, I always said they should have called it Mad Max: Furiosa. Max was a bitch in this. Nothing like Max in the first or the (different) cocky Max in the second movie.

I still enjoyed the movie though.
