Horror movies are typically low to mid budgeted and turn a decent profit. I expect this movie to be no different.

reply

This is $12 mill budget and probably another $12 in marketing! If it opens wide Iā€™m sure between 80-130 is possible. R rating will have a BO impact.

reply

The R rating isn't seen as a negative thing here though. It'll attract fans because of the rating and besides that PG-13 horror movies suck.

reply

I agree, however fewer people will see an R rated movie šŸŽ„

I assume you meant Million lol

Screenings in Texas was off the hook! This is deemed to do very well.

Honestly I wasn't expecting this to get good reviews, but I'm glad that it is. I'm getting pretty excited to see this.

Hard to say. The Evil Dead franchise has never made an awful lot of money at the box office, the original trilogy became cult classics thanks to home media, they never did well theatrically, in fact I was shocked how poorly they each did when I was researching historical horror box office returns earlier this year.

The 2013 reboot made $97 million, which when adjusted for inflation is $125 million by 2023 standards. It was one of the big horror films of that year, it had quite a lot of hype and was well received by the horror community.

I don't think Evil Dead Rise will match Scream VI or M3gan, but I do think it'll make a decent profit. I'll go with $115 million worldwide.

The good reviews, horror doing well recently at cinemas and the fact this is a reboot so younger viewers can check it out without having seen the others all help. If it makes over $150 million I'd be very impressed and happy for them.

Evil Dead 2 did very well
On home video and was a best renter / seller for years.
$150 might be about right for Rise.

Eh... that's under half of what Scream VI made and about two-thirds of what M3gan made. As I mentioned up above this film isn't gonna make $160-180 millions like those two, I don't think. It would need very strong reviews and a good attendance worldwide to make it. Holding well is uncommon and shouldn't be expected. The Black Phone and Smile had similar openings and were big hits but they held very well (especially Smile which had very uncommon longevity for the genre) whilst films like Halloween Ends dropped off hard and Nope had a typical drop.

It's all about how well it holds up in the subsequent weeks. If it drops off hard it'll be a disappointment. If it holds well it could be a decent hit. Assuming a typical horror drop it'll be fine, though only just breaking $100 million WW.

My guess of $115 million WW total for Evil Dead Rise is looking decent I think.

For comparions, domestic opening weekends;
Scream VI - $44,447,270
Nope - $44,366,910
Halloween Ends - $40,050,355
M3gan - $30,429,860
Scream V - $30,018,805

Smile - $22,609,925
Barbarian - $10,543,948
The Menu - $9,004,957
X - $4,275,126

The worldwide final gross for those films;
Smile - $217,408,513
M3gan - $176,110,350
Nope - $171,235,592
Scream VI - $167,273,149 ***ONGOING***
