So glad I watched this

I thought I'd take a chance on this film because the story was something predictable that you were meant to 'be in on' the plot. There were a lot of surprises anyway!

The humor was unexpected and really good, this was very gory which I did not like but I could see how it was necessary for this type of story to be successful. The target audience is probably young men, but you don't have to be a young man to get the humor or feel the intensity of the main characters.

This was so much better than I imagined it could have been. Great for a foreign film and another example of how it doesn't matter where you are born on this planet humans are all the same. Marriages have the same struggles and we are all trying to live up to our parents not to mention our own expectations in this life.

This was originally supposed to be a Hollywood movie shot in L.A, but waiting for the production to start, Norwegian director/writer Tommy Wirkola got tired of endless covid-delays, knowing that it was easier to produce this in Norway, he voiced this opportunity to the production company. They liked the idea and because American citizens couldn't really travel, the cast became all-Scandinavian, keeping only Noomi from the originally planned castmembers.

The plan was still that the entire Norwegian/Swedish cast should all speak American-English in the movie, but shortly before filming they changed their minds, feeling that even though they could all manage the accents it would hurt the movie.

Coool, thanks for sharing this. I hope more people see it.

reply

I enjoyed it, it was pretty good! Funny and gory, just how I often like my movies. 7/10

I recommend checking out Tommy Wirkolas Dead Snow 1 & 2, those are a blast.

reply

Had no idea that Tommy was involved in Dead Snow! I'll watch it.

reply

They are really fun movies. The sequel is actually better than the first one. I think there was supposed to be a third one too but I don't know what happened to that one.

reply

just finished it. absolutely loved it. an absolute blast from start to finish.

if you like fun, enjoyable things, then this is the movie for you.

reply

So many of the foreign Netflix films have been awesome but I pass most of them by because they aren't English first of all and second, they don't show up on the menu for very long.

reply

Try subtitled. It's the way to go even if they are dubbed.

reply

I love subtitled movies when i can concentrate on the movie, but I'm usually distracted by other things I have to do and am not able to look at the screen for the duration. So I love it when they are dubbed so I know whats happening and still get work done ya know?

reply

yes, very good.

reply

Just watched now, really good ...

And the holywood version had a black lead, hahahaha

reply

Do you have to spread your racist shit everywhere? Gross.

reply

If you don't get the reason why they had a black lead in the US version the joke is lost on you.

I know, for you everything sounds racist ...

reply

It’s not a fucking ‘joke’. No one but you is bothered by a black lead actor.

reply

Are you that dumb??? The whole fucking movie is a comedy. Having in the main role a black male was a clear mockery of the American wokeness.

And I didn't say I was bothered by it, you moron. Au contraire, it was laughable ...

reply

Oh gee, I didn't know you were gonna say it was WOKE, what a surprise.

reply

You don't even understand the written word. It was NOT woke, it was a blatant mockery of the woke

Maybe someday your cognitive skills will get better. I will pray for you (although I don't believe in a god but still)

reply

Oh gee, my mistake, you were comparing a black man substituting a white man for the lead actor to a joke making fun of 'woke' films by doing something 'woke'. Makes a lot of sense.

reply

Hated it! Saw it in Netflix. Rated it 2 on imdB.

reply

YES, a very good thriller/comedy with a good cast I’ve barely seen before
The gore effects were pretty convincing, this story got really bloody and nasty!

AND THANK YOU FOR BUMPING THIS ONTO MY RADAR...I WILL BE PEEPING IT SOON.

reply

It’s currently on Netflix under the title ‘The Trip’

reply

WHAT A GENERIC TITLE...THAT KIND OF SUCKS.

reply

It is a lame title…there are already a few series and movies called The Trip

reply

I always wonder how many gems I'm missing because they are foreign language films. Netflix has a wonderful bunch of them.

I was informed on this thread that this film was directed by Tommy Wirkolas and there is another one on Netflix called Dead Snow that I haven't seen but have been meaning to get to. Just in case you want to give it a shot.

reply

I saw Dead Snow and liked it, thanks

reply

ADDING IT TO MY WATCHLIST NOW...THANKS.

reply

Enjoy, it’s really good👍
