A nobody nerd becomes a billionaire...

Funny how a guy has become one of the richest men of all time over a really *beep* idea... He created a website where you put photos on it...how the hell is that worth billions...

reply

Facebook is used at least once a month by roughly 20% of the world's population. Apparently posting pictures with little notes is big business all over the world. If you made something so widely used, you would be worth billions as well.

reply

Supply & demand: he saw a demand and created a supply. Same as any successful entrepreneur or inventor ever.

reply

It only started with sharing pictures and putting the College experience online. Nobody would have expected to would have exploded into the social phenomenon that it is. That is for an entire nother reason. Most of the reasons it's used today have nothing to do with why it was created to begin with, to be honest.

The fact that you find his success is so incomprehensible suggests you will never be that successful yourself

A reductive mindset is one of the biggest hindrances to accomplishment - success is all about seeing possibilities, not ignoring or discounting them outright

Ha! Perfect response to OP's cluelessness.

He didn't become a billionaire for nothing! He was creative and talented, and also had the luck to have and meet the right connections at the right time! If you research Mark in real life, you'll find out he started programming at a very young age and was considered a prodigy by all his professors. He was very promising as a kid, although the film does not do him too much justice. The film does say he used to put in insane work hours (16 hours a day of programming and writing code for The Facebook) And it's not actually him as a person that's worth billions - it's HIS PRODUCT: Facebook! The billions we have all seen in revenue mean the salaries of all employees, company investments, charity work etc. So you should do your 'homework' before throwing mean words out there!

reply

creative in the sense that he flat out stole an idea from someone? I don't think so

reply

I've seen the movie many times. Mark struck a chord, there was nothing else like it and you can reach people all over the world. Even if you don't use Facebook, it was the right time and millions of people joined/use. And he was coding in high school, smart guy.

reply

Well, he struck some one else's cord, added his own stuff, but yeah, it's all over the planet now.

Wish i was smart and focused when I was young, not to be a billionaire but to have a decent income. Money talks and bullshit walks.

I did get disability when i was 30 and been milking that trying for an education but.im all over the place and to be.honest.not that smart.

TimMC, I don't know who are you referring to on this board.
Nor I know if you have invented this powerful image.
But if you did, you are a genius poet.
Never heard this one before, I'm still laughing!

reply

I'm gonna take a wild guess and say TimMC's spinning turd comment was created as an homage to Zuckerberg :)

reply

Well that's just genius!

reply

Truthful and poetic. It doesn't get better than this!
