Is just me, or did Julia Roberts look artificially aged?

And it's not that her character looked anachronistically old for the role she was playing, but somehow she appeared much older than she looks in recent publicity photos.

Maybe that's how Roberts actually looks without makeup, but I kind of suspect Julia's had the best of the best care and treatment for her face since forever. My wife and several of our friends are Julia's actual age and they don't look as aged as Julia did in this film and none of them have had anything more than over-the-counter skin care regimes, not regular visits with top dermotologists.

I think Ethan Hawke was made to look older, too, but since his character was less angry and more laid back than Julia's, it kind of worked to mitigate his aged appearance.

She is freaking 56 years old. LOL. I was actually surprised how good she looked for her age.

People these days just too used to see 55-years old actresses using botox and do lip injections. And it looks like Julia didn't do that much work on her face. That's why some people are shocked to see real face of 56 years old person. LOL.

For her age she looked fantastic.

You think that your 55-yearls old wife and several of your friends look like they are 40? Go and put them on tv and you would see they don't. Ethan Hawke is 53 years old and this is how he looks in real life too. Just look at his press pictures.

Celebrities age. It just feels that people still think that Jlo, Kidman. Cruise, Pitt, Roberts, Bullock are still 41. When they are between 50 and 60. Time flies by.

the publicity photos - a crapload of make up and an ever bigger crapload of photoshop
btw - she's developing a massive nose - I'd want to see a pic of her parents to see who she's transforming into.

She's getting old and was ugly as hell to begin with. Never understood her appeal.

I feel like Julia enjoys being an old Dame (as she calls herself). She just seems the type that would let herself age gracefully. In photos she probably has a lot of make-up on. She was playing a woman involved in an apocalypse so make-up was probably not the character's priority. She most likely wanted to look natural. Even 20 year olds wear makeup. Women have delicate, thinner, skin. Hence why many of us especially wear foundation. If their skin was flawless at 20 they could go without any. Yet most (not all) don't. If I go without it people ask if I am OK. I look pale, etc.
