Anybody seeing this one?

Marvel’s first on Hulu, it’s their least darkest, and it focuses on teenagers. So anyone catch it yet?

I have to admit the trailers didn’t excite or interest me (compared to Inhumans, that’s a diffferent story), but I thought I’d give it a shot anyway. So far, I think it’s well-done and it certainly feels different. Not great but let’s see where it goes.

I have not really got on board with the non Netflix marvel shows. I thought about trying Legion but the rest have not really interested me.

reply

I’m really into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (a show that has been improving with every season) and Agent Carter, but I know what you mean. The Netflix ones are grittier (significantly more), they don’t look nearly as polished, they are more grounded and cinematic, etc.

Legion is a must-see though. It’s intense and mind-bending like no other Marvel/superhero show (or any show on cable) out there.

reply

havent seen much of those two so far, but i agree legion is top notch. what about "the gifted"?

reply

dude, legion is absolutely incredible. what about the gifted? so far the darkest marvel stuff i have seen since "logan".

reply

I have yet to catch The Gifted (I just finished The Punisher!). But I’ve heard very good things about it, and seeing how the X-Men series has been pushing the envelope, I know it has to be worth seeing.

reply

for me it's the other way around: i still have to start punisher. ^^

you will love it. how was punisher? does it live up to the expectations?

reply

I personally thought the show was satisfying and worth the wait. It’s not perfect (it could’ve been better in some aspects), but it’s a pretty good start. I always thought the critically panned War Zone movie had an honest portrayal of The Punisher, but Bernthal’s take on the character is easily the most faithful and heart-wrenching to date.

reply

Legion was definitely a highlight for me.Unpredictable and well written all the way through. That and Preacher quickly became 2 of my favorite comic book shows.

reply

amen, brother.

reply

Twelve IMDB reviews, mostly negative. Poor characters, Teen Soap.

reply

Boring directionless garbage. Judging by the first three episodes, anyway.

reply

I watch anything Marvel, I even fought trough that ridiculous garbage that was Inhumans. saw the first 3 episodes of this and its interesting enough but nothing spectacular so far.

reply

Totally agree with you Xcalat3.
Inhumans was terrible but I watched every episode because it’s Marvel.
The Runaways is a bit too angsty & teenagery for me but I am staying for the parents back- story as I have not read the comics and am not entirely certain what is actually going on yet regarding the murders, magic, dinosaurs (?) and super powers!

/The Runaways is a bit too angsty & teenagery/

yeah, not a fan of that and the SJW chick but the parents "cult" is interesting.

"The Runaways is a bit too angsty & teenagery"

I didn't think it was overly angsty at all.And i'm someone who hates angsty teenagery stuff. In fact i was surprised by how likable i found the teen characters.

reply

It's got problems for sure, the same problems the comics had I would say, but I find it surprisingly good. I thought this was going to be more for tweens, but it isn't - it has depth, complexity and a downright darkness to it while still maintaining a story-line fit for a teenage audience, which is who it's meant for, and I can't help but applaud that.
