How They Ended Up With Live Ammo On Set?

Mistaken live rounds for blanks because they were in a rush? or brought them on to be modified into blanks and dummy rounds? or had them for the sake of realism?

How They Ended Up With Live Ammo On Set?

Alec had some on hand, just in case he saw Kim Basinger walking around

used by crew members for target practice

That and the producers were cutting corners to save time and money.

Wonder if Baldwin was part of the target practice group?

reply

It's insane that live rounds would be allowed anywhere near the set.

reply

yup.
"Target practice" is no kind of excuse at all, why would they think that was an appropriate thing to do with gun props on a movie set?

I'm trying to think of an example of something else so dangerous while at the same time utterly unnecessary , but struggling.
'Smoking in a fireworks factory' maybe

reply

...gun props...

There were no "gun props" on the set...they were real guns.

reply

yeah but "prop" doesent mean
"artificial non working replica of a thing, or mock up, for use on a film set"
it means
"any piece of hardware procured to be used on a film set"

reply

When it comes to guns, all "props" should be artificial, non-live fire replicas, mock-ups or whatever term you'd want to use to indicate they are not capable of firing live rounds.

There should be no real guns capable of firing live rounds on a movie set, at all, ever, period.

Hire based on checked boxes and win stupid prizes.
