So even FLOPS get sequels made?

Face it, The Nun was a FUCKING FLOP!

reply

Not many people liked it but it made a shit ton of money.

It made $356 million worldwide on a $22 million budget. A resounding commercial success.

It's the highest grossing entry of The Conjuring universe.

Didn't realise it had made so much. I loved the first Conjuring, enjoyed the second, but I did find The Nun a real letdown.

I thought the original Nun was the weakest of the Conjuverse, but I thought part II was way better. It has better flow, characters are more fleshed out, it has gorgeous cinematography and nifty visuals. I would rate it 7/10 whereas I would give the first one a 4/10. I really did not like that one.

Funny thing is I had a bit the same with Annabelle I and II, first one was just barely ok for me, the second one I really dug! It was way more elegant scary and with better inventive scares.

The trailer for this second one looks all right, so I'll definitely see it. I'm the same with the Annabelle movies. And (contrary to a lot of people, I know) I like the third one even more. Feels to me almost like The Conjuring 2.5.

reply

I saw the original Nun with a friend & we didn't like it at all 😏

reply

Yes I also like the third Annebelle, it's very intimate and raw with a lot of inventive unsettling moments (that future TV! )

Hmm, this looks so similar and familiar to these sequels...

A Haunting in Venice might be a deal thing, as the idea sounded actually quite promising. That the execution is not, is something else, but if the movies made not a big loss, but keep some stars attached to the studio, it did it service.
The Nun 2 was likely not expensive, and the star of this sub-series is the sister of the star of the main series. So its quite likely they break even with 150 Million WW. Did this change that no one wanted this sequel? No, but at least this movie draw still enough people in the cinema.

Wow, that certainly surprises me! I couldn't stay awake thru it. I found it incredibly boring. Thank goodness I didn't pay to see it.
