Zack Snyder is Box Office poison now...

People really underestimated how much audiences disliked BvS.

Yup. He is one of the (if not the) primary reasons why the DCEU is on life support right now. I hold WB slightly more accountable though for not pulling the plug on this hack right after the disappointment that was MOS. His "vision" was completely ludicrous and not at all what audiences wanted.

Shame on WB for handing this hack the keys to the DCEU future despite the medicore reception to MOS and even more so after the POOR reception to the atrocity that is BvS.

Even though I liked (not loved) Batman vs. Superman, I can truly say that I am not a fan of Zack Snyder. Most of his stuff sucks. Surely there are better, more exciting producers out there.

How many millions did BvS make? Like 800?? You are underestimating its success. Plus, it goes beyond that. Snyder's style is not unique.

I think thats by far the biggest take away from The JL disaster ....

BvS truly was A disaster a scale thats Never before been Seen....It not only was a disappointment by itself, But we now know it literally KILLED/CRIPPLED A movie and potential 4 to 5 Billion dollar franchise in JL...

There was no going forward after BvS...at the time WB looked at BvSs box office, and while disappointing it was still 870 Million and I thought they could go forward...they looked at the response which was awful but thought they could make corrections and go forward...

But the reality was....BvS was so awful and such A UNIVERSALLY hated Film...JL was Doomed....the only way possible to go forward with JL after BvS was for WB to completely clean house...

They needed to immediately after BvS came out, Delay JL, Admit Publicly BvS was a creative failure and wasn't what they wanted or what fans wanted, They needed to hire a New Director(A big name director) and New creative team, but most importantly they HAD TO fire Zack Snyder, they needed to thank him for his efforts and thank him for working on the DCEU, but admit, Snyders Vision wasn't working for these movies and characters, They HAD to Distance themselves from Snyder....IMO had this been done in the first month or 2 after BvS came out....A Potential JL would have found success, I believe WB could have got away with Bringing all the same cast back because there was have been so much hope and Excited again for a JL movie With Snyder completely gone and A new Director and creative team....then when you added the incredible success of Wonder Woman on top of it a year later , A real "They finally got it right " now that Snyders gone movement would have been created....

But unfortunately....JL was simply doomed...WB decided to bring back the same director to direct A DIRECT SEQUEL to A Universally hated film that disappointed in every way possible...

there are a ton of factors contributing to JLs box office Disaster, A truly awful Marketing(Maybe one of the worst I've ever seen) and Unprecedentedly Bad Production(almost has bad as Fantastic For 2015), Mustache Gate. But by far the single thing that crippled JL was BvS

I believe even if everything went Positive(Like Wonder Woman Positive) If JL got Great Reviews, had no production problems.I think JL still would have Drastically under performed and made maybe around 115 to 125 Million.I just think there was such a Large Portion of the audience that were simply OUT after BvS.that ONLY Snyder being fired and New Director, creative team and most importantly NEW HOPE would have brought them back for a JL sequel

at this point, if you really understand the film industry, and understand what happened here..BvS has to be considered the biggest Creative failure in Hollywood history and may in fact be the biggest box office failure in Hollywood history, And when I say Box office failure I dont mean failure based on what the film itself made, I mean box office Failure because It literally CRIPPLED a potential 1.5 Billion dollar movie in JL and potentially lost WB 4 to 5 Billion in at least 3 JL Films..a JL sequel and franchise is absolutely DEAD now.JL can not have a sequel or go forward for at least 7 years. to have a JL film NOW WB has to reboot, recast and reboot the complete DCU.They also need to make a BUNCH of good DC movies before to gain Audiences Trust back.to really go forward with a another JL film.

over the next 10 years, WB needs to reboot and recast Batman and Superman, They need to release at least 1 Critically and commercially successful Batman and Superman film with new actors in the roles, and They got to wait until they make at least 2 more Wonder Woman sequels with Gadot in the role finishing her trilogy, Wonder Woman was so successful WB, as to ride its success

reply

they got to make at least 2 more Wonder Woman films that are strictly solo films that have nothing to do with other DC characters

then They can recast Wonder Woman in A JL movie With The new actors from The successful rebooted Batman and Superman movies.....

thats what WB is looking at....almost a decade of rebooting and recasting and hoping They can make good movies that can gain audiences trust back that would then make it possible for them to make another JL film....

^That is what BvS and Snyder did to WB....

also WB is clearly at fault here, They had no clue what to do, no plan or vision for A DCU, They saw the success of The Avengers and wanted in on the Success of A Cinematic universe, But had no idea how to do it or had any vision at all, and unfortunately that Lead WB to turn to a man with The completely wrong vision, but a vision none the less...

but there is simply no excuse for WB going forward with Snyder after BvS....WB deserves their fate after that move...

The problem was the writer Terrio, not Snyder. Were the visuals, the direction, FX.. bad? NO. The problem was the story and the writing. With a good script with a good story Snyder could make a good movie.

Justice League has the same problem, it's the same writer.

I agree with ALL of your points.

They also catastrophically ruined Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor and the Joker characters as bad as what Batman & Robin did in the '90s.

From now on they should not touch those characters, not even with recast actors. The characters themselves were already spoiled. Broken beyond repair. Only time will heal them.

Cancel The Batman solo movie and The Joker origin movie. Nobody would want them anymore now.

I'll also add that they should recast Flash and Cyborg. Or better, distance themselves from these characters for awhile. Only Aquaman's actor is reedemable. But please delay the Aquaman solo movie and remove all the Justice League residues from the movie first.

That said, I'm looking forward for Wonder Woman SOLO sequels, and as you said, with not a single Justice League foreshadowing (again) at all.

They desperately need to find other iconic characters to make a movie of. I can't think of one though. Plastic Man? Nightwing? Swamp Thing?

Or maybe Batgirl. Along with Wonder Woman, that would make WB/DC the most progressive studio in term of feminism.
