Let's make predictions. Will Season 8 be good?

Or will it be crap? Perhaps somewhere in between?

Season 7 felt rushed. It was okay, but it could have been better, so my fear is that Season 8 will be the same. I hope we are all pleasantly surprised. They set the bar low. If the previous season was average, then the final one could be at least an 8 out of 10. There is nowhere to go but up, and finally having a conclusion to the story will make it all worthwhile. That's my prediction. Still, there's no time to waste, so any meandering dream sequences and flashbacks mean all bets are off! A few more seasons (and finished books as source material) would be needed to tell the story properly, but as they say, the show must go on.

They set a high bar by taking twice as long to produce a short season and promising “feature-length” episodes.

The season 8 premier looked very much like a standard episode— one hour long, with a “tune in next week!” ending.

It'll be fine. I just hope they don't cop out and give it a heroic, mostly happy ending.

A fitting end would be Cersei crushing everyone and winning.

Or my hope, Stannis riding in to mop things up and claim the throne. You know he's not dead.

"A fitting end would be Cersei crushing everyone and winning."

Why stop there? Why didn't you say you hope the Night King kills everyone and turns them all into zombie warriors?

If you really think a story that Martin wrote multiple books for and a television series that's taken 8 seasons to tell this tale is going to end with the bad guys winning, then you're pretty clueless when it comes to having some general sense of how a story such as this will resolve.

Probably somewhere in between I imagine. I'm sure the production values and battles will be amazing, and everything else like cinematography, music and acting will be on point as always, but judging by the first episode, it will be a very rushed season like 7. I hope to be proven wrong though. Maybe they just wanted to get the rushing out of the way and the next 5 episodes will be much better paced, who knows.

At the very least I think it will be better than season 7. Probably more like season 6 quality.
