I think the days of really surprising plot twists are over.

We won't see any more first string good guys dying off. Maybe second stringers like The Hound or Davos, Theon, Gendry etc. The most important good character to die now will be Jaime as he will have to atone for pushing Bran out the window in ep. 1.

There won't be a shocking, "downer" ending. Daenerys will not become the Mad Queen. The Dead will all be destroyed when Jon and/or Daenerys kill the Night King.

It's just going to follow the stereotypical "happy ever after" model with Daenerys and Jon becoming King and Queen, Cersei dying, Euron Dying, etc. etc.

Too many "simpler" fans who expect the happy ever after ending are watching and would be too angry if they did surprising things now.

Well, Daenerys becoming the Mad Queen wouldn’t exactly be a surprising plot twist, would it?
After all, people here in this forum (including its imdb predecessor) have been predicting this for a long time.

»It's just going to follow the stereotypical "happy ever after" model«

I still got hope that it won’t. Maybe I’m an incurable optimist.

I still hope that it won't either. In this case, wouldn't this make us incurable pessimists? You know, not rooting for a happy ending and all. I don't want them to kill Jaime and I consider him one of the "big" characters. I don't know why he has to atone for throwing Bran out the window, it didn't kill him and if it weren't for that he wouldn't have turned into
an insufferable bore
the Three Eyed Raven. I know Jaime's probably going to die but this show hasn't made me cry in years and now that's about the only thing that will.

Now that you mention it… In a way, yes! ;-)

I think it's likely that either Jon one Daenerys will die. Most likely Daenerys. She could be killed by the night king, and Jon could then mount the third dragon and defeat him.

I think we're going to see a lot of first-syring characters die in the final confrontation, including Dany and her dragons, Bran, and Arya. Arya has taken power from a Death God, and death God's don't let you defy them and live happily ever after. And Bran will leave the world, one way or another.

So I think at the very end Jon will sit unhappily in the iron throne, and Sansa will be alone at Winterfell.

I'm pretty sure Bran has already left the world :P
