Why does a 17 year old run like a 7 year old?

Maybe that was how the rapists truly knew she was a virgin? Seriously, I get they wanted to show her as youthful and innocent, but I've never seen a 17 year old run like that before. It was very distracting.

Also, Kim?? The writers called her KIM?! Why not call Liam Neeson's character Jack and be done with it. 7.9/10? No chance.

Because Maggie Grace was a 25 year old playing a 17 year old and she's not a very good actress!

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time Del Boy, it's them that started me drinking!

The running thing bothered me too. If they wanted to show that she was young, there were other, equally subtle devices the could have used. They could have put her hair in pigtails. Dressed her in a pinafore. Given her a lollipop. Fitted her with "Hello Kitty" slippers.

I don't know if it was bad acting or bad direction but it was bad.

I find the running completely hilarious and I'm so happy others do too...

I'm laughing so hard at your post because I couldn't agree more and I thought I was the only one. I saw it for the first time yesterday and couldn't put my finger on it for so long until I finally realized that no one runs like that past, like, age 12. Not to mention the way she was dressed actually did serve as another "subtle" touch on how innocent she was so I'm sure that was the purpose of the running. But it still made me laugh so hard every time and explained why I always thought this movie was about a guy whose little kid was stolen (literally never realized she was supposed to be 17 until I watched the movie).

I'm glad it wasn't just me. The running was only one aspect of her behaviour that I found implausible, I just thought she was very immature for her age. I didn't know she was actually 25 when she made this, how embarrassing.

This means something, this is important.

OMG!! I'm watching this movie now and I know EXACTLY what you guys are saying! I'm about 35 minutes in and thought it strange when she did the "run thingy" to INCLUDE sliding across the floor when Liam came to bring the signed paperwork allowing her to go on the trip. That was bad enough but I was TOO through when she ran off to meet her cousin in the airport all hyper like a 5 yr old like really...WTF?!! 😣

I don't understand! Why couldn't they have gotten another actress who was shorter or younger? They could've switched Amanda with Kim (Katie Cassidy with Maggie Grace).

Can anyone list any other actresses who could've portrayed Kim? It wasn't like Maggie did such a great job as Kim!

reply

Katie Cassidy is even older then Maggie Grace, wouldn't have worked.

both parents are tall hence a tall daughter

It wasn't an "artistic choice" to make her seem younger. The real reason behind this, is Maggie Grace appears to run like that in real life. She runs the same way in other movies and I think she’s even acknowledged this. Sure, her run is more noticeable in Taken, but the way she's dressed could very well have something to do with it.

In any event, to most people it may be an odd way to run for a grown woman but... it's cute.

Her birthday party looked like a 7 year old’s party too. Riding that horse around the circle like a kid’s pony party.

reply

LMAO it was embarrassing to say the least

reply

For a while, I thought she was meant to be brain damaged or mentally challenged.

reply

Lmao

But yeah that child run still sticks in my head to this day. 😆

Meanwhile in another film a 17 yo was recruited out of high school to hunt down Osama Bin Laden.
