Rewatching Ozymandias

When I first saw it in 2013, it was an unbelievably intense experience. My heart was racing and got stomach and back cramps. No movie or TV series had ever done this to me. But having rewatched it now, it didn't come close to 2013 unfortunately. I wish I could see Ozymandias for the first time again.

So, watching Hank be executed by Uncle Jack and his goons doesn't have the impact in 2024 as it did 2013?? Interesting..

reply

Yes. I was hoping it would come close.

i found that to be my experience with the entire latter part of Season 5. I'm not normally a binge-watcher and can happily wait for the next episode, but with this I was going through episode after episode because it was so intense.
I thought I might get more out of it on second viewing, because I wouldn't be impatient to find out what happens next/how it ends, and could therefore relax and enjoy the show, maybe catch stuff that I missed first time around or appreciate bits that foreshadowed what would happen later. Instead I found it to be rather flat and there's enough recent posts on here poking holes in some of the goings on towards the end.
In fact the only part of all 5 seasons I enjoyed more 2nd time around was the early part of season 2 (prior to the introduction of Saul). That aside, I've never known a show be so much less satisfying second time around, especially when it was so enjoyable and gripping on first viewing.

Hard to match it when you know the outcome! I wish when I watched Titanic that I didn't know what was going to happen!

There's a lot of movies that you can watch over again three years later and not remember the ending. This does not happen with Breaking Bad!

reply

Yeah... Unless one read the graphic novel, he wouldn't ever anticipate Ozymandias defeating both Rorshach and Night Owl so easily

reply

I guess.
TBH both Rorshach and Night Owl seem too much like a bad parody of serious superheroes to expect them be effective at winning that duel.

reply

Night Owl is definitely lamer than fuck. Rorschach was a force of nature though

reply

Yes but also Rorschach is the most human of the group, while Ozymandias has real superpowers. It was a no contest.

reply

Batman defeats villains with superhuman capabilities all the time
